Prior to the men's cup final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium there is the women's cup final between 1.FC Saarbrücken and 1.FFC Frankfurt. Both teams feature American players. Frankfurt is UEFA Cup finalist, German champion and tenth straight time in the final. Saarbrücken got promoted to Bundesliga prior to this season, so the odds are clear: it is a surprise if Frankfurt wins by less than five goals difference...

Frankfurt features two Yanks. US nats player Ali Krieger and Gina Lewandowski both started in the backline. Saarbrücken has U23 nats player Natalie Budge. After the ref called off Frankfurt's early lead (didn't see that the ball was behind the line) it was Natalie Budge to score the lead for Saarbrücken in the 4th minute. One of the many world champions on Frankfurts roster, Renate Lingor, wasted a pk but in the 22nd the next world champion Petra Wimbersky equalised. It's an entire defence battle for Saarbrücken but the half time score of 1-1 is a big surprise so far...
