lars is officially now in the lower half of 137 and 138, though when i looked back last night from about row 4 of 137 it looked like three-quarters of 138 and half of 137 were squaders. it was awesome
I just watched a replay on ESPNN360, and I could definitely make out the SGs. I think the problem is that as the play shifts, so do the broadcast's on-field microphones (those little bubble things). I could definitely make out a few anti-Glinton chants from ACB, and several from LARS. Good showing from all.
The reason there were so many seats at kick-off was parking. I got to the HDC at 6:15 at found parking at 6:20. The parking control was disgraceful.
I rewatched the match again last night. You Galaxy fan's filled the stadium and created a great atmosphere. Great Job Riot Squad and Angel City Brigade.
Sitting in section 142 which is just behind the south goal. Would love to stand and cheer with any supporters groups but I'm with my two kids ages 6 and 8. Are kids welcomed?
Definitely! The only issue I see is the sections having actually reached capacity. We have sold out with season tickets, and we get a sizable amount of slip-ins. They noticed how over capacity it was at the game and started (futilely) checking tickets. They may get better at it though as the season goes on. I have a suggestion though. The grand strategy of LARS is to colonize the surrounding sections, and get the rest of the stadium to be just as active...Join us where you are at. Get the people around you to support and cheer the same way.
yeah the whole stadium needs to get involved, the 200 level stomping their feet reminded me of when the whole rose bowl would do that
Just a question from an outsider, far away. With the ambition of your club and the full house crowds you guys may draw more often, is there any mention, or is there the possibility that the stadium could be expanded? Because to be honest, though I notice most of the grounds around the league have modest capacities, I think you guys could fill a 35-45,000 capacity stadium, fairly regularly at this rate, especially with Beckham around. Is it possible to expand the stadium during the offseason? It will cost you, but probably worth the investment I say, if you can fill it. 35-40,000 only = 8-13,000 more seats, but = potentially 30-50% increased revenue from ticket sales alone. Here in the A-League, we have big clubs like Melbourne Victory and they regularly draw 25-40,000 strong crowds, during the season and that's without a Becks ofcourse . So too Sydney FC and Queensland Roar, both those clubs draw similar numbers to your team it seems, but have larger stadiums so can cater for the occasional bigger influx of 35,000 spectators or so.
Everyone is welcome in LARS, but be forewarned that sometimes the language can be somewhat, um, strong, so it's down to what you're comfortable with. We do have more than a few kids in our section, [irony]but no Latinos. Remember, LARS is the all white, racist group, right Luis Bueno?[/irony] And just to clarify, the LARS section is not sold out for the season, just for the opener. If anyone wants tickets with LARS in 137/138 contact our Galaxy rep Chris Zepeda at 310.630.2231. LARS is also working with the FO to create a "LARS Day Pass" to give a dozen or two people who already have tickets elsewhere in the stadium a LARS experience.
Good question Glory. We have out Steves working on it Really, though. It makes sense. We could have done 45,000 on a thursday night, no doubt. And weekend games even easier. One of the problems is that the stadium is built on state owned property... a university. They might have stadium size limits. Lots of info floating around, I dont know if any of it is defined or not. It would make sense to increase the stadium size, and with increased profits I dont see what the big deal is.
an added bonus would be Chivas looking even more ridiculous. Having less than 10K looks bad enough in the HDC as it is now, imagine if the stadium got bigger. Maybe they would finally move out?
I think you can also contact your current rep if you already are a STH. My understanding is Zepeda is for new account, unless I'm mistaken. But yeah, ditto on the strong language. If you're not comfortable with your kids hearing it, it's best to keep 'em away.
Thanks for the support and confidence. In truth and fact we don't really "fill" a 27,000 seat stadium very often. You will note that there are no complaints posted here about "I was turned away at the gate." Sure, for the Chelsea or Real Madrid matches, these were hot tickets. For Kansas City or Columbus....not so much.
No way we can talk about expansion now. When all of our crowds start to look like the game vs Chelsea then we can talk...
My first live match will be Vs Chivas on the 26th. What kind of crowd turn out is there for the local derby?
I would expect this game to sell-out. Saturday night is the primetime slot so there should be no excuses. And, if LA can get a win this Sunday, then regardless of the Houston result we'll be off to a decent-enough looking start (as surely will Chivas be) to make the game look like a live wire. I would expect a largely full house, unless there's some competing event in town I don't know about.
