    Section 101
This Saturday marks the beginning of the 2008 season for us, initial reports say that the weather shouldn't be a big issue; maybe some light showers in the afternoon but nothing major.

    1. The Section - 101

What happens inside 101 on match days is the single most important aspect of what we do. NOTHING is more vital to what we stand for than our support for the team. It is the very reason for our existence. Everyone, if they have not already, should familiarize themselves with the songs we sing:

If you have not, please review those threads.

After our meeting with the FO and NJSEA last year we were able to clarify what is allowed to be brought into 101. Streamers are good to go, and confetti is also good to go. [/b]BRING A FEW STREAMERS TO THE GAME[/b]. Everyone should bring something to each game to contribute to the section. Whether it is a banner, streamers, a bag of confetti, etc.

Smoke Bombs and Flares are not allowed. I would love to have them in the section but they are forbidden and if you are caught with one by NJSEA you will be arrested and prosecuted. If you are caught by ESC you will be ejected from the section and have your card pulled if you have one. We cannot risk losing everything we have bargained for these past 13 years because you feel like lighting one off. Maybe at Red Bull Park we will have more liberties, but for now under the NJSEA...no dice.

Finally, the section is the most important thing we do, as such we ALL head into the section 30minutes prior to kickoff. You are expected to close shop on your grills and coolers by 7:00PM Saturday. We march into the stadium together and are there to support the team when they walk out of the tunnel.

Also, we need 10 people to go in at 6:45 to set up the section by hanging banners and stuff so its set to go. It takes some time to do this and must be done a before everyone is in the section. DO NOT LET 3 PEOPLE DO IT ALL ON THEIR OWN..VOLUNTEER TO HELP!!

    2. The Tailgate

WHAT: ESC Opening Day 2008 Pulled Pork Extravaganza Tailgate
    WHEN: Saturday, April 5
TIME: Food will begin to be served at 3 PM
    WHERE: Lot 16A. Giants Stadium
Cost: $5 per person (to cover costs of food). Any additional money will go towards future tailgates.

    MENU

    MAIN DISH: BBQ Pulled Pork
    SALADS: Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad
SIDES: Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Chips
SAUCES: Caroline Vinegar, Chipolte Mayo, Memphis Sweet BBQ Sauce
CUTLERY: Forks, Knives, Napkins, and Plates will be provided
OTHER: Potato Rolls and Bread for the Pulled Pork

*Feel free to bring any sort of condiment or food you would like to share with the group. The more, the merrier.*

Members of the Empire Supporters Club have decided to group together to provide an organized a tailgate for all those that are willing to participate. The cost is $5 for the all you can eat extravaganza. With people carpooling, taking mass transit, and driving long distances, not everybody has the opportunity to bring a grill and cook in the lot.

A group of ESC members are planning organized tailgates for each home game, so that anyone can have something to eat in the parking lot. The tailgates are not at all designed for profit, but are being run at cost so that everyone can have as much food as they want for a minor cost.

At Saturday's Season Opener, the cook off begins at 3 PM where members will be able to eat the dish of the day (Pulled Pork) as well as much sides as they want. In an effort to keep the costs low, drinks will not be provided.

So, pick up a plate and join us on Saturday for the first ever ESC Opening Day 2008 Pulled Pork Extravaganza.

For the amount of effort and time everyone is putting into this, the important thing is for everyone to please chip in the suggested amount, so that everyone participating in the preparation of this tailgate can receive back the money they put into it.

If everything goes smoothly, there should be enough money to cover all costs. As fellow members of the ESC, we trust that everyone will participate and not take advantage of what should be an amazing tailgate.

For the most part, we will be operating by an honor system, so please abide by it.

Again, the amount of money and interest in this first tailgate will help us develop how much can be spent on additional tailgates this season.

    Thank you!

    3. FIFA 2008 Tournament

The ESC tent will have a PS2 set up for a FIFA 08 tournament. These are the details:

    1. Starts at 2:30PM (should last 2 hours)

    2. 16 Teams (first come first serve) - respond to this thread if you will be there by 2:30 and want to enter.

    3. ONLY 4 star teams and below allowed. This is because the PS2 has only 9 teams with the highest rating and it would be unfair to allow people to use them while everyone else has to take a lesser team.

    Ineligible Teams:
    Barcelona
    Real Madrid
    Manchester United
    Chelsea
    Liverpool
    AC Milan
    Inter Milan
    Juventus
    Bayern Munich
    All National teams

    RULES:

    1. Must use one team throughout the tourney - first come first serve for dibs to that team.
    2. 2 yellows or a red card means that player must sit for the next match
    3. 6 Minute Halves
    4. Semi-Pro keepers
    5. Fast Gameplay
    6. Single Elimination

After the tournament it will be free gameplay for everyone that wishes to play until its time to go inside.

    4. Membership Sign Ups

    SCARVES SOLD OUT

    - we may do another order depending on the interest.

NOTE - We have received the scarf and patch shipments and will have them on-hand for this event. So if you have previously paid for membership at an earlier event you can pick them up on at the tailgate.

    6. Wear Red or White - In 2008 we are asking all members and guests in 101 to wear red or white in the section to show a more unified front for the club we support. Whether that is a club kit or a unrelated T-shirt is up to you. ESC will be making an official supporter club shirt for 2008 that will be available in late spring early summer as well, and will be available to ESC members only at bulk rate cost.

    See everyone this Saturday.

I cannot find the receipt for the scarf! I probably threw it out by accident when iwas doing some spring cleaning. I purchased it at one of the ESC membership drive events at Stouts. will you have a memebrship list of who paid for a scarf so I can just give you my name, or do I really need the receipt?

Another question: I have had terrible trouble trying to log on to the Metrofanatics board. I had not visited it for a while, and when Itried to log in I could not. I created a new password and it did not take. I cannot reregister, because it is telling me that the emai laddress is being used. I tried contacting the webmaster as per the link and the email got bounced back. So, sorry if this is off- topic, but if anyone out there can help me out with getting into this site, I would appreciate it.
I would like to thamk the ESC in advance for putting all of this together. It should be a fun evening and I am really looking forward to it.
