Hi Everybody! Here is my predicted starting line-up barring any injuries or trades...

    Conway
    Mendes Parke Brunner
    Sassano Stammy Reyna VDB
    Etcheverry
    Angel Alti

I don't think Sinisa would start over Stammy unless he is injured (anyone know why Stammy didn't play vs. the Carolina Railhawks?)... I am not sure Brunner will start...but I am praying he does and Goldy doesn't...he still is mediocre at best. Our strike force is really quite impressive when Alti is added to the equation. Although our pres-season was less than stellar (3-3-3), the Bulls did have a lot of traveling to do which can be exhausting...1st NY...then LA... then NY again... then Salzburg, Austria.... then South Carolina... then NY again...then North Carolina...back to NY...

and as another thread has pointed out in will probably be wet as ususal... here is the accu-weather forecast for next Saturday...

Saturday April 5: Few showers. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.

Hope to see you all at the game... which will hopefully be the last home opener at the Swamp... looking forward to our new snazzy RED BULL PARK in 2009!

    Nah, it'll be:

    Angel and Altidore

    Borman, Reyna, Sassano

    VDBergh and Stammler

    Goldy, Parke, and Mendes

    Conway

This is my guess on the starting 11. Other options are:

    Sinisa instead of Sassano

Mendes instead of Sassano, with Brunner taking the back right.

Anyway, that is what I think will be the starting 11 based on what I've seen played so far.

I don't care about the lineup. As long as I can go to the game and we win.

Yeah hopefully we can finally get a home opener that isn't played during a huge storm. As for the lineup, I pray that Goldy doesn't get to play. Another possibility for the mid field is playing Magee alongside Reyna but I don't know how effective that would be. Columbus looked good but that was against TFC. The obvious key to the game would be to shut down Schelotto from providing any good service to Moreno, Gaven and Rogers.

We might get a bit lucky here. Looks like the rain may taper off towards the evening.

    I think you nailed it.

FWIW I'd start Sinisa behind the two forwards, move Reyna back to VdB's spot and have VdB on the bench. But I don't think JCO feels that way.

I'd actually move Sassano to the bench, and put Sinisa outside.

I'd also switch VDB and Reyna.

VDB has great passing and crossing skills, as well as decent shooting skills. He's mostly played on the wings, but now that he's older and slower, he should move into the center. While he may not be the answer to the attacking midfielder question, in my opinion, he's the closest we have without moving Angel back (which is another option.) Granted, VDB would need to adjust to this central position.

Another reason I like switch Reyna and VDB is that Reyna is more comfortable in a holding / defending role. He'd probably perform better for us there. And VDB is learning that role now, so might as well have him learn the attacking role until we get a replacement.

    Just some thoughts.

Well, we all know the love affair JCO has with his former UVA and DC United and US Nat players. Wait, that was the last guy, never mind. Why the 'F' is Goldie starting?

    In the US&A
It will be interesting to see how the team plays this week, last year we werent bad but inconsistency was a major problem at the end of the season. I predict a 2-0 RedBulls victory on this one Altidore and Angel scores.

Freeman got hurt in the thoroughly meaningless Olympic qualifying final (typical Metroluck)

out 4-6. Now closer to 3-5 I guess. Either way, tough blow

    Injury list just released:

Richards, Freeman, Brunner, and Roth are all out.

Nothing new (except Brunner, with a nasal fracture.)
