Six votes for Sounders; My Hotmail account (personal and Seattle Pitch) My Gmail account My MSN account +2 STDs I was (and probably still) ok with FC. I was irritated by the arrogance of "get over it" article, that's since been pulled.
Dont be a toolbox, that "reason" was made up after the fact. Listen, its ok people, DC isnt the only team in MLS to mimic sucsesful foriegn names made famous by another team here. They were just the first.
I think that's what MintyDude is hoping for. We can roll tanks into the stadium before kickoff to get the crowd really motivated. Unfortunately, opposing fans will get tased if they root for the wrong team, so that kind of kills the atmosphere. - Paul
7 votes for Seattle Sounders including my old emails from Washington State University, University of Washington, work emails, and personal emails .
Updated Thread Vote Totals Not much useful outside of the wider context of the voting, but just for the sake of the numbers: Total Votes: 309 Sounders: 288 (93.2%) FC: 13 (4.2%) Republic: 4 (1.3%) Emerald City FC: 1 (0.3%) SC: 1 (0.3%) Anything but Sounders: 2 (0.6%) Any guesses on what the total votes cast is up to? Certainly it's past 10K? Sounders probably needs 3 or 4 thousand to be in the lead right now?
"Realizing that my knowledge of original Sounders or Watford trivia will be of little use a year from now, I started by following my own advice and begun the assimilation process." Frank MacDonald MLSinSeattle.com Insider This sentence made me think that we shouldn't feel too confident with the way things are going with the votes for the Sounders name.
I think he was just referring to Seattle entering a new league next year, which he has to familiarize himself with; hence entering the MLS fantasy game, for instance.
My faux-analysis: If they toss out a bunch of replicated votes (quite likely) or outside-the-region write-ins (possible) - then we might need 5-6k to win a plurality. Which is actually quite doable - partially thanks to things like the championship and FC Dallas games last year and the latent love for the NASL Sounders.
If I was in their shoes, I would count the votes a whole bunch of different ways. What did only the deposit-holders say? What did anyone from an IP Address within a certain range of Seattle say? What did Americans as a whole say? What did people from other countries say? etc. - Paul
what did people from the SAME ip address say since so many are making new emails to vote. this doesnt look promising for Sounders supporters, but we will see!
The same ip address probably won't be too big of a deal because many homes have 1 or two computers in a network but maybe 4 or more residents. I think the only problem would be if hundreds of votes come from the same ip address. Different people can log onto the same computer and vote.... so the email is different but the ip is the same. There is no stipulation that says "one vote per computer or ip address." We'll see. Regardless I think we'll see Sounders or FC. The other names just don't do it for many people as evidenced by reaction and poll results.
They can't assume that all emails from a single IP Address are from the same person, though. Households (families and roommate situations) and businesses are often behind a single IP Address even though everyone has their own computer. Also, they said that every unique email address gets a vote. And lastly, I don't think there are that many people making extra email addresses. I didn't. - Paul
That would be in a word, ideal. If the U.S. military showed up at every game... well lets just say TFC would never win at Qwest.
wasn't the comment made that the FO does read these boards. if so it seems to me a bit stupid to be talking about all the ways that you manipulated the vote and then turn around and try to justify how multiple ip addresses will look. just a thought.
The front office is manipulating the vote as well by sending the Seagals out to pubs offering free t-shirts to people who vote for the three suggested names. MLS Seattle set the rules by saying that it was one vote per email address not per ip address. I personally have only voted with my season ticket deposit. I have lobbied friends and family to vote for Sounders...... and they have. The time and effort to create several email addresses is not something that too many people with other responsibilities can do. The discussion was about ip addresses.
And you don't think that there are people who want one of the three official choices that have also "manipulated" the vote? Some have already admitted to it.
I haven't either. And the people I have "lobbied" to vote "Sounders" have all been Sounder buddies from the past, or soccer followers in general.
