hitler also had a very strong opinion of the jews. I didnt know you had the need to impress others in a soccer website :D

you forget other failures, like failing to win the gold cup that hugo sanchez promised to win, therefore not qualifying to the confed cup which is a year before the WC. Thats 2 fracasos in one and a regression of progress from previous procesos. The team playing like crap y sin idea.

The topic about a qualified candidate has already been addressed in this thread and yes the NT committee is prepared to spend any kind of sum for a qualified candidate. If they are gonna just throw money around I think it would help find a suitable candidate that can take advantage of this unprecedented amount of talent in our team. This national team has the most talent ever assembled and the team is playing like shit... this is unacceptable.

The point of these tourneys is for the young guns to get some experience against the best of the world. Sorry but a friendly every now and then with Guatemala and Paraguary will not make us world cup champions... oh wait I forgot, Hugo's seleccion can't even beat Guatemala...

You guys discuss this a bit later on, but I think it's worth bringing this up again. I was surprised to hear someone I actually pay attention to (maybe it was Murrieta?) talk about how this was a "generacion perdida" because of the failure to qualify. It's important to get as much experience as possible, but I don't get the extremism. It's 3 first round games, and maybe a couple more after that. As VS says, they'll get their experience in Sudamericana/Libertadores, and in Europe if they go. If anything, it might delay some of the players from being identified for future European moves, but that's about it.

Spain, Germany, France, and England (although England doesn't compete for political reasons) are all missing out on the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. Brazil also missed out on 2004, and Argentina missed out on 2000. It's quite obvious that this ruined their player development.

We don't have the luxurys that countries like those mentioned have, such as having as many players in Euro, young players getting international experience. And playing in Liber or Suda isn't the same as playing in the Olympics or other international tournaments, just look at Ochoa. He has been solid in Liber and Suda and in MFL, but to this moment Ochoa has left to be desired wearing La Verde, he is still an awesome talent and definitely our goalie for years and years to come, but its not the same....

I already asked what does a Confederations Cup equal a year later during the World Cup? It doesnt guarantee a single thing so while i would of loved to have seen them participate there its not going to affect how well they do in 2010. Prove to me otherwise if its such a big deal. How bad does Mexico play in World Cups if they dont play in the Confederations?

    Godwin's Law
/prov./ [Usenet] "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one." There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups.

I guess we can close this thread now.

    What if Aguirre is available?

We could have an interm coach for a while since we don't have any important matches coming up.

Iterm coach against China and Argentina wouldn't be a bad idea. Until we could find someone that will be dedicated to take over.

    I really liked Aguirre.

And look at what he's doing with Aguero. Young talent and he's using him wisely.

And he has Atletico within reach of a Champion League spot.

But during the WC while working with TvAzteca he said he craved coaching México again. So who knows...

I support Javier and I think he's a great coach but whenever I think of 2002 and that infamous last game .....aghhhh, my ulcer.... hopefully he learnt from those mistakes.
