he should pick the senior member of the club. Thats what italy does the man who has the most caps. when cannavaro retires it will be buffon and so on. That is the italian way

My take on it, too. An over-rated position and that's why Capello is playing musical chairs with it. Unfortunately we don't seem to have the wit to suss it out.

Capello is doing exactly what he said he was going to do. Play different Capt's. in the friendly games, right up until the Qual, when he will announce the permanent Capt. position. Capello is saying and doing the right things.

SSN came up with this a few minutes ago.

    James

    Johnson-Ferdinand-Terry-A.Cole

    Lampard-Barry

    Bentley-Gerrard-J.Cole

    Rooney

That was just their prediction, though, so it could be wrong.

Yeah, that is the expected. I was hoping for something stated by Capello today.

    sorry...don't agree there.

it may work for italy when a player like cannavaro also happens to have the most caps. but what happens when cannavaro and buffon are gone, and say, camaronesi has the most caps (purely hypothetical). should he be captain just because he has the most caps?

every club/national team is different. the most "experienced" player doesn't necessarily equate to being the best captain. and one shouldn't deserve to be captain just because he has the most caps.

other than beckham, who's the most capped player for england? michael owen? you think he'd make a good captain just because he has the most caps or is technically the most experienced?

Seaside Mafia has it pretty much spot on.

rio has his flaws, and while i was in the group that thought terry should be captain under mcclaren's reign, i don't think you can go wrong with rio at this point. if it's a one-off, then so be it. but i think capello's doing the right thing by seeing who he's most comfortable with.

And you know this from your numerous conversations with him, i take it? Perhaps you work for sky sports and have interviewed him many times so therefore you can make that observation. All good.

ive heard plenty of his interviews, seen the missed drug test and watched that awful program where he 'tricked' other england players and said they got 'murked' after each one

    hes a fecking imbecile

    but an awesome defender

actually, this lineup really isn't all that surprising at all.

we know capello likes a 4-2-3-1 formation with 2 defensive/holding mids. so hargreaves and barry. check.

we knew rooney was gonna start over owen. check.

i guess the only surprise was beckham over bentley. but capello's seen firsthand that beckham can play in this system.

    sorry, i'm just rambling.

I'm not sure what Capello still sees in Brown?? Johnson has played well as of late.

other than the drug test, which he's admitted to being a mistake, how does his merked show prove his lack of intelligence?

it's humor. it's supposed to be silly and dumb. if you didn't like it, then so be it. but it doesn't make him a "fecking imbecile."

I meant it the way I put it, with Gerrard and J. Cole pushing up to join Rooney.
