I don't think there's a thread for this but I could be wrong. According to Bernardo, Ching and Clark are on a plane heading for Poland. Link The majority of the roster is from Europe which is to be expected. I like seeing Gibbs called in as it must mean he might be getting close to being healthy again.
Re: Ching and Clark called up for US vs. Poland So, we have 5 players gone for International Duty this week. A portent of things to come It's a good group, though a tad light in the mid. Of course, don't be surprised to see Donovan and Dempsey in the mid and Ching playing the lone striker up top (with one of said mids/STs playing behind him). Think Clark will start with Bradley, or will an "fall from grace" Benny take that spot?

By all accounts he is starting every game and really impressing in the II Bundesliga with Mainz. Seems a better option than Cory Gibbs, who hasn't played a competitive match in 2 seasons.
Re: Ching and Clark called up for US vs. Poland Gibbs is probably getting a look more to see how fit and healthy he is more than anything else. In addition, Gibbs can play LB which there are still some question marks about and Subotic plays CB where the US has a lot of options.

I'm not sure how many Dynamo players have been on a National Team roster before, but I think it's at least enough to have a starting line-up. I think we might even have bench players who are National Team qualified. That's insane in the brain, yo. Either Kinnear's doing something right, or Kinnear's doing something right

Re: Ching and Clark called up for US vs. Poland I can understand Clark getting called up since he is suspended for the first two MLS games but I question the rationale for dragging Ching to Europe with a series of 5 games over two weeks for the Dynamo. I can see calling in everyone you want for England or Spain but not Poland. As injury prone as Ching tends to be, I think I'd rather not use up his tank now if I was Bradley with qualifying coming later in the year.
Re: 3/26 US v. Poland -- Ching and Clark called up Probably because he hasn't trained with the USNT this year. Ching was invited to camp in January, as usual, but he declined. He is a key part of Qualifying and this is what friendlies are for: to get your team gelled and ready for said games.

If they ever offered him the USMNT job, it would actually make sense to choose him. He's got international experience in Europe and Mexicf course it would suck to lose him as Houston's coach. (might make a nice thread to discuss that one too)I would'nt mind seeing e.rob and holden called up for the Spain match.

Poland -- Ching and Clark called up I would mind as that game (and the other friendlies against England and Argentina) should be used for the XI to get in a last few minutes before they start Qualifying. Holden will have plenty to do in August, no need to bring him in unless we suffer injuries. Eddie got his moment and looked good and, again, barring injury, has no business over there. Not to say that neither one is any good, just that those ahead of them are more solidified in their positions.

Re: Ching and Clark called up for US vs. Poland It is light in the mid, but I think Bradley will stick to his usual 4-4-2 using Ching, Dempsey, Johnson, and Wolff at forward. That's the way they're listed on the US Soccer page and Bradley seems averse to playing Deuce in the mid for some reason. Donovan should play on the right and Clark, Bradley, and Benny will share time in the middle. I'm curious as to: Why Eddie Lewis would play on the left. He is a turnover machine. Demarcus Beasley still has a torn ACL and Bobby Convey played like arse against Mexico, but what about Brad Davis? He played very well against Sweden. And why Ching at forward, as injury prone and old as he is. We have younger forwards (Named Adu and Altidore) who need the experience and are more likely to be the guys in the Olympics and World Cup 2010, so why not use them? By the way hi all!
