Before we destroyed them and had them so beat they retreated to Houston LA and SJ had battles on the field and off the field. Alot of meaningful games ended up them against us. MLS playoffs, US open cup. It was the marquee gme during its hayday.
about the whole whoose city is cooler thing being an outsider (again, i live in st.louis) if i were given a free trip to L.A. or San Jose i would deffinetly choose L.A. I mean what do they have over there in san jose besides a good hockey team..........absolutely nothing. go galaxy. p.s. i ahd to go and post over there on their bogus thread to make them feel stupid.
LA fans are in such serious denial, spending half a thread arguing that there is no rivalry. It's like a women spending hours saying that she really doesn't care about her ex-boyfriend (when she so obviously does)... If there really was no rivalry with San Jose, then why did some guy start this thread in the first place? The LA Riot Squad web site sums up the rivalry pretty well, especially this post: Yeah, there's no rivalry at all...
Frankly, I think it is a real close competition between San Jose and Seattle fans on this board as to who are the most obnoxious and annoying...

i understand the no-cal so-cal rivalry now. these san jose fans r morons they boast about stuff thats in the bay area not their city, like the golden gate bridge, the giants and the A's, i mean i dont understand them. do they hold residency in every city in northern california? i completley understand the rivalry now.
there is definately a rivalry between the teams.. even if the old SanHo earthquakes are moved, the fans are the same, so we acknowledge the teams rivalry however the more general geographic rivalry.... it basically seems like a product of norcal minds and it says you have an inferiority complex. In our minds, there is no geographic rivalry. don't misunderstand that to mean i don't like the area, I LOVE the bay area and even thought about moving up there at one time. i like the cooler weather and the whole area. So it is not a slight on the bay area, i'm just saying as far as rivalry, people in LA don't regard it as any competition.
the interesting thing about the san jose rivalry, for me at least, is it's primarily cultivated by the sheer number of conspiracy theory laden, sub-moronic fans who have the objectivity of anne coulter at a tranny beauty pageant. i'm as biased as anyone in-game. every tackle on a galaxy player is a card-able offense. every referee decision against our team is a case of anti-galaxy bias, etc... once the final whistle blows i can admit when the team was poor, when a player cheated, when we deserved to lose, when the other team got screwed. san jose fans on the other hand, jesus you'd think san jose deserved to win the last three world cups, champions leagues and mls titles but for the fact every other team in the league cheats, mls hates san jose the referees hate san jose, aeg paid the league to work against them, fifa won't let club teams in the world cup, europe hates san jose. they are certifiably ********ing mental. i actually quite enjoyed watching the quakes play at times during their '01-'05 seasons, it was some of the best football in the league, but their insufferable fans ruin what could be a decent team. for that reason alone i'm hoping for another half decade of crap performances and failure, just to revel in the conniptions their fans will go through - i'm actually really interested to see who they blame now that they've got the owner they want, the coach they want and the general manager they want.
It is cool, for the most part. If you love ancient history, that is. My step-daughter and wife took a field trip there one weekend for extra credit and they hated it, but I loved all the pictures they brought back. However, if that's the only good reason they can come up with to define why San Ho is cool, then that's just sad. I just wish I could make the trip down on the 3rd to see us crush the Quakes. And speaking of quakes, we had a few big ones in my hometown last week. Scared the SH*T out of my wife and kid. Nice...
Ohhh that makes me pissed how many of those tards are coming here. I'm coming down from Canada to watch the April 3rd game. IM STOLKED NOW. BRING IT ON EARTHQUAKES!
Emphasis on replicas. But soccer aside, if we're comparing the city of Los Angeles to that of San Jose, especially the financial areas, and the communities immediately surrounding them, SJ doesn't look all that bad. LA still has the cool factor going for it. I think that's largely due to the weather, palm trees, and stereotypes of Southern California however.
There is a difference between team rivalries, and an overall regional rivalry. But I wouldn't expect you to be intelligent enough to understand the difference. Your choice in teams sums up your IQ as well below 85.
Yep, we have really low IQs up here in the Bay Area, that's why Silicon Valley is here: for all the dumm, cheap labor. And the Bay Area is just full of idiots with degrees from Cal & Stanford... everybody knows those are just community colleges. I wish we had some good schools up here, like USC, with really smart students.
Just as a matter of interest, what % of the student body at Stanford comes from the Bay Area? And BTW, we all knew that those Silicon Valley techie-types were really smart. After all, NOT A ONE OF THEM could be conned into rescuing the Quakes.
here's a perfect example of san jose fan's inability to have anything resembling an objective outlook from the biggest san jose fan there is eric wynalda. about la about san jose so despite the fact the last 3 expansion teams have all failed miserably in their first year; despite the fact san jose's front line consists of kei kamara and gavin glinton; despite the fact that frank made some terrible, terrible decisions in player trades this pre-season (it's becoming increasingly evident who was responsible for the trades last season); despite the fact that if san jose were to lose one or more of their three big names in attack -- well i'd be hard pressed to pick three big names, but let's say ned, ronnie and kei... they're beyond screwed; despite all that and more san jose is going to make the play-offs and we're not. it's that kind of delusion that makes their fans insufferable.
