Only just woke up myself, lol.

Pique played for the reserves midweek, not sure if he got a knock but even if he didn't, Fergie hardly ever gives anyone who played in the reserves a place in the team/bench at the weekend these days. Everyone wrapped up in cotton wool.

It does seem a little unusual to have no recognised defenders on the bench but I guess the thought is that we won't need them. :)

    Interested to see how they line up and the make-up of the midfield in particular. Whether it will be like this (simplified);

    -----------Foster--------
    O'Shea--Brown--Vida--Evra
    Park-Anderson-Scholes-Giggs
    -----------Ronaldo
    -----------Rooney

    Or something like;

    -----------Foster--------
    O'Shea--Brown--Vida--Evra
    -----------Scholes
    -----Anderson--Giggs
    --Ronaldo----------Park--
    -----------Rooney

    ................

Apparently Rio has a slight back strain.

Do you know if Simpson played, too? Other than the defensive bench, I'm happy with the lineup.

The starting XI is fair enough but very strange bench. Tevez and Nani are at the ground (MUTV showed them getting off the bus). Why not have at least one of them on the bench rather than the 3 CMs, just in case we are having trouble getting a breakthrough???
What use is Hargreaves in a game like this (other than possibly playing RB).

Looks like Saha may be around for the CL Tie.

Fingers crossed and knocking on wood

    .... Pique is done here.

That's a much stronger team than I thought. The manager obviously wants these lads to gain some confidence and tally. Anderson should be trying for his first goal today.

Pique really is getting the shaft. He's probably our most talented CB prospect (him and Evans) and he isn't getting any playing time at all. He is probably going to go back to Barca and become one of the best CB's in the world and we'll end up overpaying for someone in the future. Go us!!

    I reckon:

    ------------Foster
    ------Brown----Vidic
    O'Shea----------------Evra
    -----Anderson-Scholes
    Park-------------------Giggs
    ------Rooney
    ------------Ronaldo

    4-4-2

Maybe we can see how much size he actually has gained.

Yes, Pique can pack his bags. With Silvestre and Nevile nearly back Fergie must think he will not need to use Pique this season so he's not going to bother giving him a game to boost his confidence.

Simpson might be on dodgy ground as well. I can only imagine Hargreaves is on the bench so they can play him at RB if necessary, maybe push O'Shea into the centre and rest Vidic if we have a good lead. Surely Simpson should be there in that case if Fergie was happy with him?

I'm very disappointed by the Pique omission, tbh. It really is the death knell for him. What a waste of a season for the lad.

    Derby are playing a 4-4-2!!! :D :D

I think everyone already knows what I want us to aim for...

We'd only get the kind of blowout you expect if the starting XI got a decent lead and then we had forwards coming off the bench hungry to get in on the act. As it is we just have Saha on the bench.

I'll be happy with the 3 points and no injuries.

I hope nobody thinks Derby will just lay down and let us run over them today after seeing Chelski whoop them earlier in the week.

This is goin' to be a tough match and my prediction is 15-0 to United
