Everton also went out of the UEFA Cup today on penalties. They really outplayed Fiorentina and thanks to winning 2-0 sent the match to extra time, but Fiorentina's keeper was absolutely amazing, making save after save, including stopping one of the penalties.

    Sebastien Frey!

Weren't we interested in him a while back?

    He should be France's #1

Ya, that's him, he was out of his mind today. Everton totally dominated the match posession wise right up until extra time, which was a half hour of the two teams waiting for penalties. In truth Everton really should have had at least two more goals, and the penalty he saved was a diving one-handed stop to his right. Great performance from him.

DC United's season has started with an away game at Harbor View.

They made it about 18 minutes before they had injuries to their starting striker and goal keeper. The 'keeper is still on the pitch, but they subbed off Moreno for the aforementioned dwarf. I think DC should pony up the cash and sign Zigic from Valencia just to pair him with Niell. There wouldn't be a more entertaining strike force in the world.

I downloaded highlights of the spuds penalty shootout.

I'm so glad it was chimbonda who shot wide to cost them the game. Of the degrees of hate reserved for that team, him and zokora really push the bounds for me.

Pretty bory game so far. 0-1 DC at the half on a pass that hit McTavish awkwardly, but he took the chance well.

And yeah, Niell really is short. He looks like a miniature pony out there.

And the second half just kicked off.

I'd rather DC play some prettier football... But it is hard to expect it with so many new people.

I really wasn't thrilled with DC's offseason movement, though all things considered they made the most of their situation. Perkins and Gomez wanted to leave, not much they could do about it. I'm going to try to get back to DC to see United a couple times this summer.

I believe the Dynamo are up next. Maybe they'll do better now that they aren't playing against the great Bare. Without forwards, I wonder how good they can be. They have DeRo though, that always counts for something.

Apparently away goals doesn't matter, so we will have to win outright. We ought to be able to, but I'd have been a lot happier with 1-nil. The goal was kinda fluky though. Someone just needs to get the ball out of there.

To be honest, though, Harbor View had played even or better for a good stretch of time.

One game down... about 50 to go.

Looks like Mancini has changed his mind and now wants to stay at Inter. He basically blamed it on being emotional after the match against Liverpool and according to the club President, he plans on seeing out his current contract.

looks like manU is having a little trouble with derby. Still 0-0 approaching halftime, and derby has had a couple chances. I still have no faith that derby could pull a surprise win or draw.

ManU 0-0 Derby at half, and Derby has had some decent chances in the last few minutes.

That being said, ManU should be up 3 or 4 to nil. They are looking like another team we know and love an one of their frustrating days.

I am not going to hold out hope for Derby until the 70th minute. That's when I'll start to believe...10 minutes to go till that point. Saha just came on

Derby SOOOO close to scoring in the 69', score remains 0-0.

Pewl up 2-1, Blaqburn/Wet Ham 1-1, Pompey up by 2-0 and Chel$$$ea up 1-0 (boring boring Blues). All in the 68' mark or so in those matches.
