http://mlsrumors.blogspot.com/2008/03/outgoing-alexi-lalas-to-get-boot-by.html I stumbled across this on MLS Rumors and thought it would be worth a look. Even if Lalas doesn't get sacked, this might explain why Babayaro was let go.
Do i think he need to be sack as GM yes!!! He has a losing record, says a lot of stupid things. But maybe a move to marketing wont be a bad thing, he sure knows what to say to get attention. But then again he has killed the galaxy.
Wooden jesus where are you from Korea or Canada or maybe taiwan I didnt know it was the holy land But I believed from the minute The check left my hand, and I pray Can I be saved, I spent all my money On a future grave Wooden jesus Ill cut you in On twenty percent of my future sin
Whoa, I almost forgot about that pic. It looks like Alexi just dropped a deuce in his pants as he realized he wasn't going to have total control like he used to!
Maybe my wish will come true ... Lalas gets fired as GM of LAG Lalas gets hired as GM of Sh!tvas USA Lalas trades Guzan and Bornstein to LAG for Pete V, a box of Herbal Life energy tabs and a used Gatorade Bottle
That blog post is a huge chunck of red meat at anti-Lalas Galaxy fanes everywhere, and as much as I'd like to believe it, I'm not going to take anything written on the MLS rumors blog as anything more then something blatantly made up with no evidence whatsoever.
I agree, but it sure is nice to dream Yallop gone, Pavon gone, Lalas gone. Looks like we might become a real team again.
Not true, MLSR cites Steven Cohen as their source. We all know how great Cohen is when it comes to dishing out unbiased pro-Galaxy thoughts..
but again, we were a crap team long before lalas took over. we will not be a consistently good team until we get an organization behind us that believe the football is the most important element to the galaxy. i'm slowly starting to accept this fact.
point taken. Of course that guy is an idiot and well known for talking out of his ass but I do agree that is still a step up from typical MLSrumors crap.
Well I don't think my sarcasm was as blatant as I thought it would be. Maybe I used the wrong smilie? I really can't stand Cohen. I wouldn't cite him as a realiable source for the weather let alone Galaxy info. He is always talking trash about the Galaxy and MLS and makes himself look like a complete moron most of the time. Especially when he trashes Donovan and Beckham and then procedes to cry about why the Galaxy won't let them go on his show.
I like Chris Klein but I hate thinking about Sturgis and Findley and how well they'd be doing under Ruud.
IF Lexi can meet his $100mm goal, there is NO WAY he will be canned. Player personnel decsions may be moved, but there is no way a president/GM gets fired if he is making major coin for the owner. Deal with it.
I say with the $100,000,000 we buy 3 or so other MLS franchises, turn them into our farm teams, and we'd never miss the playoffs again!
Most everyone on this thread assumes facts not based on evidence. In the American legal system (well, until recently), this would get the thread dismissed. I want someone... ANYONE... to post the evidence that Lalas was the man hiring/firing players. Has he said some "astonishing" things in the press? CHECK! Has he failed to work on some basic fan rights at the HDC? CHECK! Has he become a public enemy #1 for BS? CHECK! But show me, with proof, why he is responsible for our on-field problems. It's just not there, people. You give him too much power. You got issues with AEG? Yeah, well so do I. Lalas is a self-admitted "AEG man". But tell me what he did, exactly, that diminished this team. I'd like to remind you, the MLS CUP 2005 winning LA Galaxy was a mediocre team. Hamilton/Sampson had nothing to do with us winning that. You know what did? A sucky first-year CHIVAS and RSL that creeped us into the playoffs and a certain newbie LANDON DONOVAN who "turned it on" during the playoffs. Don't kid yourselves, folks. This was NOT the glorious Galaxy of 2002 and before. We have not fielded a good team since... and you, deep down, know it. This article's more than stupid. July?!? Why July? Name ONE REASON for July and not NOW if the decision has been made to sack him in July?!? Jesus people... Tommy Mack
I agree completely with your second and third paragraphs above, but there have been lots of veiled references to Lalas being over-bearing and overly-controlling. That doesn't prove anything, but it does point in a clear direction. For example, the following quote from this artical when Yallop left:
