"long walks together" and the "...forever" comments were classics. Good for Pat, I hope this works out well for him.
Pat Noonan and Adin Brown are scheduled to start for Aalesund today (Friday, 2/15) in a preseason match against HamKam @ 1:30PM. He had a couple of missed opportunities there, but at least he was making the runs and getting open. I hope he and Aafk have a great season.
Talked to a few fans after the match, and Noonan had a poor game. Was subsituted in the 2nd half and was disappointing. I do still think he'll be a good reinforcement for them, but I doubt he'll set the league on fire..
For Aalesunds sake i hope he can be more then okey. Particularly since they seem to have a lot of problems with the brasilian strikers.
Well, I can't say much about Diego Silva, but the situation with Dede was more contractual than anything and had more to do with him than AaFK. My concern is with a defense that has not been solid in recent years, and hasn't looked solid in preseason to this point.
Well, Pat has always been an acquired taste. He's not fast, big or flashy. However, he seems to be involved a lot of times in plays that result in goals or great opportunities. OTOH, from what I saw of the highlights, Aalesund's need is really more on defense than offense. My goodness, Adin needs fully body armor back there.
They do need to improve on defense. Their Swedish center back (Benjamin Kibebe, #4) did not look impressive at all in their preseason match against Rubin Kazan.
I know the problems is not really the clubs fault but it is till a problem. Well icant say much about the preseason for but as i remember them from last year they did let in a lot of goals the most of any team i think. So yeah strengthning the defense migth be smart.
I don't expect him to be very successful there, but that's just my opinion. I think the Revs have a very successful and stable system and guys learn to be successful within that system. Dempsey was intent on being successful *outside* of the scheme and I think that is why, not only has he been been successful at Fulham, but the team wasn't heartbroken to let him go. You take Noonan (and Twellman too, I believe) outside of the Revs offense and there isn't that much individual ability to bring to another situation. My evidence for this has been that whenever Twellman, Dempsey or Noonan has been missing, the Revs offense never really suffered too much.
That's proof that the system works reasonably well, not that Noonan or Twellman lack individual ability. Might very well be the case (I don't necessarily agree) but it's at best unproven by that fact.
It'll be interesting then to see how Dorman works out for St. Mirren as he'd certainly qualify as someone brought up in the Revolution system. Only time will tell about Noonan, but I wish him nothing but the best.
