Re: Ownership Saga [R] I spent six years working in the Emirates, yes they exploit workers from India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Yes they are not democratic, Yes they have the death penalty. They also have the most successful portfolio of overseas businesses in the world. What that has to do with running a football club I don't know. If you want to protest about owners then get the banners out against the owner of Man City. The Sheik is a Liverpool fan who was in Istanbul and has followed the team since he was in University in England. The one thing we will get is honesty and a chance to succeed, which we will not get with the two cowboys in charge. If the situation continues with dumb and dumber we will end up with no club, no stadium and those two walking away with one finger in the air.

Re: Ownership Saga [R] I give up trying to make sense of this -- the Times claims Rafa and Hicks are allies now Rafael Benitez finds unlikely ally as he battles to stay at Anfield
Re: Ownership Saga [R] I'm not too surprised. We hear very little from Hicks himself. All we get is media speculation and gossip that has only a small basis in reality. People are just trying to sell papers.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Arf ... I think we heard quite enough from Hicks before Christmas. Oh - and then there was his famous interview on NBA.com of course. The less we hear from him the better, I reckon. That certainly appears to be the Gillett motto anyway.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] "At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques". Bill Shankly
Re: Ownership Saga [R] messageboard watch: posters with "inside sources" claim the DIC over, erm takeover is imminent -- they're celebrating over in RAWKland some claim DIC wants Rafa out (and want G&T to be the heavies), some claim this isn't accurate and a tabloid reported that DIC would own the club within a month, unless we go to Moscow and delay the transaction just wanted to clear all that up
Re: Ownership Saga [R] "Posters with inside sources" Huh! Well my source cleans Rafa's office and she's married to the mate of my cousin.....and she says.....Hang on, I'll get you that link..!
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Not to rip on inside sources or anything but they are usually complete bullocks. I have a friend over in the UK that has worked for various teams as a team coach or something like, I know him because he has come over here to put on soccer camps and stayed at our house. He has worked with West Ham, Blackburn, Man City, Crewe, and on and on. He has gotten me many things, jerseys, autographs, etc from the likes of Joe Cole, Friedel, Gerrard, Zola, etc. I take anything he says about the game with a grain of salt, because things change so fast and a lot of things are kept private. He bet me 20 USD that Gerrard would leave the summer after the Champions League saying he had already signed a contract and had a physical with Chelsea, I won, and he paid me.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] so rafas getting good luck emails from tommy boy twice aweek, but has no contact what so ever with the gilletts? what the ******** does this mean
Re: Ownership Saga [R] What I want to know is where has Foster Gillett disappeared to? Is he working at the club or what?
Re: Ownership Saga [R] no. he left in january and has not returned, I think. hes a kid and shit scared he will be lynched. my take is george is in agreement with hicks to hold on until he gets the funds to buy him out. as of now GG is a silent partner, oh how the tide turns in business, just my take
Re: Ownership Saga [R] WTF Hicks Jr was at the game yesterday He even went to the Sandon Pub afterwards with his Minders and was quickly chased out. where there was foster now there is Hicks jr, he has also told the paper hes moving here.
I was going to put this in the Ownership Saga thread, but thought it was good enough for its own thread. Bottom line, Hicks and Gillett have given DIC permission to examine the club’s accounts with a view to making an official takeover bid next month. It sounds as if the club is now valued at somewhere north of £400M which will see a very healthy return for Hicks and Gillett. Now obviously as Liverpool fans we've been down this road before, so maybe nothing comes of it, but it does appear to be the real thing. Next question, assuming so, is it a good thing?

Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. I'm getting tired of all of this. As long as they sign the cheques and build us a new stadium and stay out of Rafa's way, I don't really care now who owns us!
Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. IF DIC get the club I think they would gladly sign the checks and build us a stadium. I don't know if DIC will keep Rafa at the club.
Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. That's precisely why it's important. Hicks and Gillett haven't done that to date despite promises to the contrary. My guess is that if they stay on, there will be more interference.
Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. The Telegraph with the same story with the added nugget that Hicks and Gillett don't talk to each other.
Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. Hold onto you hats.....It's gonna be a rough ride. Why do you think that they wouldn't keep Rafa, even for the terms of his ongoing contract. Surely they wouldn't want to upset the running of the club in such a way that it'll take years to recover.
Re: SOLD?? Hicks and Gillett signal intention to sell to DIC. Sorry Sam, I'm overruling this and putting it in the ownership saga thread. At least until I see a press conference from the club.
