New Bucks site looks great! I'm counting the days until March 29 4:00 p.m. Crew v TFC. 100% of the south end of Crew stadium being held for TFC travelling support. Currently 7 buses plus other transport = 500 confirmed as of now through the various supporters groups. Ultimately could be as high as 1,000 from T.O; the TFC FO has told us they are considering getting buses. Woo - hoo!
That'll be pretty disappointing for Crew fans if an opposing team occupies an entire 1/4 of their home stadium. Great to see from TFC fans.
There is now a link up on the Bucks site for the forum over at USL Discussions -- hopefully it'll attract some more people.
Michigan Hawks W-League Schedule The W-League schedule is out. The PDF file, though, does not list match sites. Hope that the Hawks may play at U.S.A., but probably will be in Livonia again. Also, can't tell yet if there will be a Hawks-Bucks doubleheader like last year. 2008 W-League Schedule set 14th official season opens May 10 http://www.uslsoccer.com/home/221543.html PDF version of 2008 W-League Schedule [+] http://www.uslsoccer.com/docs/home/W2008Schedule.pdf 2008 USL W-League Regular Season Schedule Day Month Date Visitor Home Team Time (ET) Wednesday May 21 Michigan Hawks @ FC Indiana 7:00 PM Friday May 23 Fort Wayne Fever @ Michigan Hawks 7:00 PM Tuesday May 27 Michigan Hawks @ West Michigan Firewomen 7:00 PM Friday May 30 Michigan Hawks @ Minnesota Lightning 8:05 PM Tuesday June 3 Kalamazoo Outrage @ Michigan Hawks 7:00 PM Friday June 6 Chicago Gaels @ Michigan Hawks 7:00 PM Thursday June 12 Michigan Hawks @ Kalamazoo Outrage 7:00 PM Sunday June 15 Cleveland Internationals @ Michigan Hawks 3:00 PM Friday June 27 Michigan Hawks @ Fort Wayne Fever 7:00 PM Sunday June 29 West Michigan Firewomen @ Michigan Hawks 3:00 PM Thursday July 3 Michigan Hawks @ Cleveland Internationals TBD Thursday July 10 FC Indiana @ Michigan Hawks 7:00 PM Saturday July 12 Michigan Hawks @ Chicago Gaels 5:00 PM Saturday July 19 Minnesota Lightning @ Michigan Hawks TBD
1) That stand doesn't equal 1/4 of the stadium. 2) Why would we care? TFC has a lot of support, which has zero to do with us. There are 5,555,912 in the Toronto metro area. There are 1,725,570 in the Columbus metro area. If TFC didn't have more supporters than Columbus something would be seriously wrong (Hello MetroBulls lol). Plus we're the ones getting paid. $$$$. 3) If/when Philly gets a team you'll get to experience it when Barra Brava and the Screaming Eagles come up from DC.
I never said they wouldn't. They will still have to deal with a couple of thousand supporters from down south. There is a decent chance there will be more people in the away supporters section than the home supporters section.
I have a pondering question regarding the television situation with the Ignition, and was wondering if anyone could answer this, or at least discuss. The Detroit News recently put out an article stating that Comcast Local is leaving the air in March, which would put programs and sports teams, such as the Ignition, out of a television station with which to broadcast on. I'm bringing this up specifically regarding the Ignition situation. There are 3 games in March and 1 in April that are now questionable to be televised due to the CL shutdown. Currently watching the latest edition against Milwaukee, I see that they are slowly removing 'CL' from the program. There is still the station mark on the upper right corner of the screen, but there are subtle changes taking place. The microphones the announcers are using are no longer CL mics but MISL branded. This is also the case on the graphic that shows the score just before/after commercial breaks. Finally, they don't say that the game is on 'Comcast Local' or 'CL' anymore. It is now the 'Detroit Ignition Television Network.' This gets me thinking that they might be picked up somewhere else after the station's plug is pulled (or at least hoping they will). Anyone got any comments about this, feel free to post.
As someone who has worked at Comcast Local I have to say I'm really saddened by this news. It's a small staff over there but they're great people and were really dedicated to the station. I hope they can find work in other avenues. As for the Ignition I can only imagine that they might be trying to get on Channel 20 or 50 with the moves they're making now.
I'm sorry but I can't put the words "sad" and "demise" in the same sentence in relation to operations of a cable company... Of course I feel sad for those who worked there, as I empathise fully having worked for a cable company once in my past. But then again it's not just the cable companies that get this treatment these days, it's all corporations... </rant>
Of course, I share your sentiment. I have no love for Comcast, but its obviously a personal thing for me. I hope they land on their feet. I liked the concept of the channel, but its certainly not financially viable.

"Bucks Bar" - like a real bar? Is Ultimate going to get a liquor license? Oh man that would be very nice. I do wonder about games like USOC matches beyond the first round. Say Bucks play an MLS side in third round, there's no possible way to accommodate everyone who would want to go to that match. Do they move the match or just jack up the ticket prices to get the hard core only? If this has been asked and answered already, I apologize. Aside from that, just the idea that I can go watch the Bucks in July without broiling is awesome. 1/2 hr from my house is not bad, compared to the remote locations last year.
The Bucks Bar is exactly that. There will be a full bar on the Mezzanine level back away from the field.

Must the the only team anywhere in sports named after the opponents!
Re: Michigan Bucks 2008 PDL Schedule Outrage is a pretty bad name, I think -- but Demize is the worst USL team name since "New Jersey Lady Stallions"
