I'm a huge fan of Ronald Cerritos for all he did for the Quakes. It would be great if at some point we could find a role for him with the Quakes, maybe as someone that can keep an eye out for talent in Central/South America. Don't know. Ronald Cerritos [drum] [drum] [drum] !!!
He just turned 33 on the 3rd. I saw him play during the Gold Cup in the summer, and he still looked good, but I don't think he would be more than a late sub for a successful MLS team.

Do you remember when the stadium announcer called the starting line-ups and would say, " From San Salvador, El Salvador, Ronald Cerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrritos!" I would love to hear that live one last time and hear the crowd go wild for him.
Going all the way back to Bob Ray, the original in stadium voice of the San Jose Earthquakes in 1974, the "rolling" r's have been part of the job. Ray did it with Archie Roboostoff.
Last I knew, he has an advertising agency in San Jose. They produce radio and TV spots. I used to hear him as the voice in the Courtesy Chevrolet ads on local TV. I saw him at the big reunion put one by the Gilmores a few years back. In fact, I think he did the in stadium announcing for the reunion game they put on. If memory serves me (and I may have mentioned this at another time) Bob Ray is the only stadium announcer to get a yellow card during a game. Actually, the card was issued to the Quakes bench, but it came about because of what Bob Ray said during the game. In those days, the stadium announcer actually did sort of a play by play thing....saying things like "free kick, San Jose" (or the same for the other team, when there was a foul). There was lots of commenting by the announcer during the game. One day, there was a particularly bad foul committed by the other team, and Bob Ray says "1st and goal, Earthquakes" (or something like that, which was meant to say that the game was getting a little rough). The ref did not like it and whipped out a yellow card. That's the way I remember it, but I will be the first to yield to another version. I just know that he did cause a yellow card.
