I am an FC Dallas fan but how can this organization keep giving away blue chip assets for pennies on the Dollar. We seem to continually do this in the name of "getting rid of the cancer". This team has to have the worst trading record in the MLS. We are giving away our best assets for a bag of rocks time and time again. Either we need to properly evaluate players before we bring them in or find ways to maximize their value if we are intending to get rid of them.:eek:

Then we need to wait and see on whom we use the allocation we just got from LA.

    Fair's fair.

I'll hold my judgment until we see who we sign, however 28 year old proven goal scorers are very hard to find in this league and we just gave one up for beans. The trade went from Bobby Boswell, an allocation and draft pick and now it's partial allocation and draft pick. See what happens when everyone in the league knows you want to trade someone? His value goes way down.

Right now we have one proven forward on our team and he wants a new contract or wants out.....these guys in our FO had better have a good idea of where they're going or else we could be in big trouble.

Yep, I'm not optimistic. So we're going to sign someone who wasn't good enough for CAP, a league that is maybe a little better than MLS, but suddenly he's going to be a 7-10 goal scorer? Gimme a break. We're in big trouble here unless Artie or Oduro has a massive upswing in development or we can get lucky with one of our draft picks and have him be the next Altidore or something.

I liked el pescadito, but there's only so much flopping that any single player can do before the team as a whole is penalized. I think Ruiz found that line and even when a call should've gone in his favor, it didn't because he'd done it to the point of ridiculousness. Still, I think he's a good player and will really hate it if he comes back to PHP and scores a winning goal against us.

The better question to ask may be: why are we now seeing a consistent pattern of players who liked each other getting away from HSG?

Ruiz was well liked amongst the players, definitely had his body and heart in line with making this club better, and wanted to move on to something better when his passion was met with HSG mediocrity.

Sell the team to the passion that you slighted in the Southlake move HSG!

How many draft picks does FC Dallas have now? What percent of those drafted actually remain on the roster? For example, if we have 9 draft picks but only three of those players actually make the roster, what's the sense in trading players for draft picks? Is it just for show?

I read on one of the sites that FCD could bundle them all up and get someone really good. But FCD doesn't seem to trade for players in recent years only draft picks. (O'Brien and first Mulrooney trade excluded)

If Hitch were a portfolio manager of a Wall Street fund he would be fired for the losses in terms of value that he has taken with this team. He has taken one of the deepest and most talented, albeit, pain in the ass ego driven teams, and squandered it. The core of this team outside of players that have been lent to us (Kenny, Arturo, Drew, & Dax) is by far the most wretched core group in the league. These guys don't scare anyone and they don't inspire anyone. This thing is heading downhill fast and is now in flames. Its fine if you decide that you don't want Nunez, ROB, Goodson, Ruiz or Vanney anymore. But play a little poker. FCD consistently throws its cards on the table and then finds itself in the position of getting bent over in every deal. I'm tired of this team taking it in the shorts.

does this trade affect the draft at all? i guess we wont be drafting nyarko now that KC has traded Nick Garcia to San Jose for the first pick. surely they are picking nyarko to replace EJ.

For anyone to actually gauge this trade we need to know two important things:
    1. What was the $ value of the allocation we gave up to get Ruiz from LA?
    2. What was the $ value of the allocation we got from LA along with the draft pick?

Until these figures are available, it is pure speculation... Buzz a little help?

Allocation money is a greatly undervalued tool in MLS. It can be used to help with salary cap, aquisition of players, and for trade value.

Don't forget the best two players brought in last year, Toja & Richetti, used allocation money to complete the deals.

Oh, he didn't send you an assortment for cheering him. Poor dear.

And I hope you enjoy the crunch in the back. It will ease the pain of the goals he is going to score against us.

In other news, Hooters announces expectations for record profits in Los Angeles market for coming year. Also announces closure of several Dallas-area restaurants.

Unless the front office does something significant as far as players go, I won't be renewing my season tickets.

I'm not against the trade of Ruiz but it seems we didn't get enough. Either use the money you DID get and add a quality player or lose my email/phone number FCD.

I'm so fed up with the 1 and done teams we have in Dallas and FCD is leading the pack.

not so much. He's more of a deep midfielder than an attacking mid.

    Anyone see this?
    http://mlsrumors.blogspot.com/

"This also may mean that Mexican forward, Said Godinez is destined for FC Dallas rather than DC United as originally thought. We give the Godinez to FC Dallas rumor a 5 (Very good) likelihood of happening now."

According to Wikipedia - this guy is a midfielder. I don't know much about the Mexico teams/league.

Is this deal a loss? If no MLS team will give anything for Ruiz why is he worth so much? Are we on the FCD board better informed than the FOs of the MLS (well maybe)? If he's such a valuable product then why the lack of interest? Is it possible that a striker can be a top scorer in the league's history and still be a liablility due to his other actions?
Anyway, he's in the best spot for him now so good for him.

I just went to your link and saw this pic of Blanco. Anyone think he looks 30 years younger. He came to the US looking like an old man and now he looks like a little kid.
