I actually have a PeTA bumper sticker on my car that says:

Real Men Are Kind to Animals
And there's a picture of three or four bunnies.

A couple of years ago, I went to a Halloween party as a wolfman wearing a PeTA t-shirt. I'm a vegetarian too, which added a bit to the humor.

And I do not let my dog chase the squirrels.

    GOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!!

Hey! Where abouts in the Detroit area are you? I grew up in Sterling Heights. I still have a brother there and other family in Macomb Township and further north.

Even though I haven't lived in MI for over 25 years, it's still "home" to me.

    Do you follow our Quakes?

Guilty of what? Annoying the tigers? Lots of people have done that - including me. Don't do this with the gorillas. They'll throw their poo at you.

There's a lot more here that's going to play out and these two guys are going to be very, very rich in the end.

What's interesting to me and what hasn't come out yet is that these two guys after seeing their friend sliced up run back to the Terrace Cafe. I doubt that they did that to report the mauling. They did that to go INSIDE where they would be safe. The Terrace Cafe workers wouldn't let them in because they looked too scary. The zoo employees left them out to be eaten.

Geragos took this on a contingency I'm sure.

Live out near Auburn Hills. I'm going to school over there for now. And yes I follow the Quakes. For some odd reason I've had a strange liking for San Jose teams, including the Sharks though the Red Wings will come first. I plan on attending as many Quakes games when they come into my area. It's nice living with a 4-5 hour driving area to see MLS matches. Spent last summer in Canada watching the u20s.

You almost answer your own question (this one) in the rest of your post. Annoying the tiger to the extent that it killed their buddy (or anyone for that matter).

    20-15. :)

The Warriors defeated the reigning NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs for the second time in as many games so far this season! :D

Next up: a trip up the coast to the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday.

That was such an intense game. I almost shit my pants. Wait... let me check. I did. I shat my pants. That was the best game I've seen all season. Stephen Jackson makes up for all his fckery with those threes.

What's also cool is that the Warriors answered those critics who said that they beat the Spurs last time with an injured Tim Duncan out of the lineup.

Well, Duncan played today and the W's still won! :D

One of my friends went to Taos, New Mexico for the holiday. While there he ran into some very interesting homes - designed by a local architect - called earthships. They are designed to be totally off the grid, and self sufficient for electricity, water and sewage. They also use recycled materials like tires (filled with earth) as the primary building material.

Here are some links for anyone interested.

    http://www.earthship.net/

    http://taosearthships.com/80533.htm

I'd like to know if anyone has actually been there and seen these. They apparent already have communities of them in New Mexico.

    Thoughts?

Geez, just trying to find Turks and Caicos (Gavin Glinton' home islands) in Google Earth is an absurd chore. But I'd go if I can flop on one of those resort beaches with a cocktail, on somebody else's dime, in a heartbeat.

Another underdog national team to root for, too.

    just an FYI--
the aunt of the boy who was killed by that tiger works with my husband and she told him that from the day after Christmas to just last week there were lawyers offices beating down the doors of every family home they could find that was "attached" to that kid begging to have them take their case. They were offered up to $50,000 of free work to be the chosen office to have the case because there was so much publicity surrounding it all. Kinda sad if you ask me.......

I'm with you! The CIA info on T&C.
    The Official T&C site.

I am soooooo there! I bet the snorkeling is excellent! I'm certain that they know how to make Bahama Mamas (rum, oj, pineapple juice, grenadine). Golf, resorts, rum, maybe even futbol?! Hmmmmmm. Sounds good. :)

(We spend 10 days or so in the nearby Bahamas in '04. One of the islands was not that suited to tourists, the other was excellent. We had great fun in both places.)

    GOOOOOOO QUAAAAAAKES!!!!!:D

It is and it isn't. After the lawyers are done you can be certain that in this country no more tigers will be climbing out of their grottos to eat obnoxious teenagers.

Haven't seen or even heard of them, but looks like a cool concept. Although it's unlikely that they would become popular as they are, I'm sure some of the ideas can be put to use in other eco-friendly designs. I think that's one of the points in this article:

    http://www.livescience.com/environment/071112-energy-earthships.html

Apparently the earthships have been around for quite a while, but I feel like we're entering into sort of a technology-based environmental mini-revolution. Green is the thing. A friend of mine recently quit his high-profile, high-paying job at a management consulting firm to start a new consulting company around environmental concerns. My company's suddenly started a major green initiative when it just wasn't on the radar at all a year ago. It's kind of exciting, to me, anyway.

It's only $6950.00. I think I should start saving my pennies. (Not to be confused with that word that Linds was tossing around recently!)

I wouldn't mind one, either, Mark.

However, this is what I am settling for, instead...

Not a bad second-choice... and yes, I am addicted. :D

But if you put in such an effort that you're really a "hero", you might as well put in a similar effort on the real thing. Much more satisfying, IMHO:).

Oh, and an SG through a loud stack, a mic/PA, with a few EKU 28's* turns out to be a truely "heroic" combination. You couldn't possibly be disappointed.

    *get this. now

That was, by far, the hardest Christmas gift to find, for the holiday season just passed. I swear by that.

In and around Melbourne, I went to six different shopping centers, in and out of the CBD, and I could not find a single copy left. That was meant to be one of my wife's gifts.

But yes, I really, really, really long to be playing that one, hopefully soon -- even if I have to rent it from Blockbuster.
