The only sad news (other than Burpo's missed chance to finally start) is this bit from the linked article:

    :(

I never said anything about being "groomed"....but, competition in training can push people to another level. And now...we have a proven starter, and a backup that should be able to do the job if needed. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Doyle and Yallop made it clear to Burpo what their plans were...that they were looking for a #1 and that he would likely be in a backup role. I hardly doubt they would promise him a starting job then take it away from him...it's not their style nor would it make for a good relationship...so I really don't think there is a need to feel sorry for Burpo.

Betcha we trade Burpo back to Chivas now that it looks like Guzan may be headed overseas.

They've got the monkey off their backs.

Anyway, The Mayor of San Jose returns, welcome back, The Joe!

And this is yet another piece of evidence in the compelling case that Alexi is actually a worse GM than a retarded chimpanzee...or as Daniel Tosh would say, Vin Diesel.

I was wondering the same thing myself: Who gAlexi is going to pick up as a replacement. BTW, your post is an insult to retarded chimpanzees. He ain't that smart. :D

Could see Burpo being traded. I'd rather have Cannon paired with a younger keeper(s). Based on past history I wouldn't expect Joe to be out much with the Nats either.

Being a soccer traditionalist myself I´m content, you do build a team from the back...When the defence is solid you can look at adding attacking players ;)

This may sound stupid, but how does one use a partial allocation?

I hope they don't trade Burpo. Having a really solid backup keeper is a need that they should have learned from previous experience here.

Hate to be a nit-picker, but The Joe made his MLS debut with the San Jose Clash.

Sad that we lost Goodson however. Suppose it was up to him if he wanted to go Euro... but still :(

I could have wrote that myself! Haha, but realistically a longer one should be expected soon right? I'm curious as to what Joe has to say about it.

I hate to be the ultimate nitpicker, but you don't need to use a hyphen when using the word nitpicker.

    YES!!!!

I'll be happy to eat crow when the Quakes get proactive. Right now they need a squad something fierce - and if you've read any of my posts you know I think this is a terrific move!

    Thank you Quakes!!!!

    Excellent news!

Cannon should lock down the keeper spot for another 3-4 years (something about the lack of smog...), allowing the Quakes to build elsewhere.
