Anyone got pics of Scottish stadiums, like http://www.stadiumzone.net A lot of Scottish stadiums look like this: One old stand, empty corners, close to the field. What's the oldest stadium in Scotland?
I think the main stand at St. Mirren is the oldest still in use in the whole world. but it is getting demolished next year.
ibrox and hampden are the only two stadiums that have 5 stars so they can hold a uefa competition final i believe
not according to UEFA. http://www.uefa.com/magazine/news/kind=128/newsid=18479.html paragraph headed - scottish hospitality. nice try though....
here's the main stand at love street, built in 1921, which i believe is the oldest still in use certainly in britain if not the world. it will be demolished some time in 2009 though, for any interested he're is the plans for the new st. mirren park just down the road. and which should be open by christmas 2008... that is if they ever get around to building it.
no it's where craigilea drive used to be, if you're familiar with the area a known haven for scoundrels and villany. thankfully it's all been torn down and has been zoned for industrial/sports and leisure use. the deal also includes the construction of 4 5-aside pitches at the ground and a training complex outside ralston (which will also be open for community use).
Actually, Celtic Park is also a UEFA 5 Star. They received the additional star, after completing work on their changing rooms, during Scotland's bid to host Euro 2008. Glasgow is the only city in Europe, that has three UEFA 5 Star stadiums.
The main stand of Lüneburger SK's Wilschenbruch stadium in Germany is from 1921 as well. i couldn't find the exact date St. Mirren's stand was opened, so it is still a mystery which stand is older . http://www.lsk-fussball.de/images/fotos/Stadion/stadion2.jpg
Here's some pictures of the cream of Scottish Stadiums - Firs Park. Still waiting for its UEFA 5 Star rating. All pictures taken by my brother at the East Stirlingshire v Albion Rovers match
The model looks really nice! So Fürth and its twin-town Paisley will both get modernised grounds next year and will have their old traditional main stands demolished... http://www.stadiumzone.net/g/germany162.JPG http://www.stadiumzone.net/g/germany163.JPG
Both stadiums are really so close to each other? C'mon, 175,000 doesn't sound small either... Btw: The new St. Pauli stadium will have some similarity to the Hibs ground.
Yes it's a completely undoctored photo .. I think I have some photos around showing how close the two stadiums from ground level .. It's less than 100 yards .
The Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh looks quite impressive and is the largest Scottish football stadium. How often did the national team play there in the past?
