So from what I understand, the SA section is open seating? So if I get there early enough I can move down closer to the field?

    Think Rico will play???

If so I'm gonna make a huge American Flag banner with his face imprinted on it. I got a first row seat in the 500s so I can drape it over the ledge.

The SCB will be down towards the front as well. We have a few SCB banners to hang up, and we will be helping start songs and chants throughout the match.

I really hope that the Relaint security guards are not a bunch of d***s like we had in Chicago for the Gold Cup, or in LA for the Gold Cup, as they went through the section during the match trying to get everyone to sit in their assigned seats, even though every person in the section knew it was general admission. I'm gonna send the USSF an email about this as well.

We will be bringing the 20x30 BAF,which will need to be set up on the first row, so myself and four others will be down there organizing getting it up and down. I have already contacted the USSF about it, and they said Reliant shouldn't have a problem with getting the flag in. . I dont know what their stance is on drums, but we will be bringing one.

Sounds good to me! Let's make this section the loudest section in the stadium, y'all have my full support . I'm sure other Texian Army members will give as well their best support .

    Based on past history...

the SA sections are Gen Admission, much like 213/214 here at the Rob (for you Houston people). First come first serve. I doubt security will have a problem, so long as we aren't crammed in extra tight.

I doubt we can bring in drums, but I know there are people working on that.

Flags and banners are ok. I brought my own sign in for the GC..and got properly booed at by the Mexicans and everyone else wanted pictures with me :D

I received my tickets the other day in the mail...and I don't have to make a 8 hour road trip from Stillwater like I had to do in 2003.

I bought mine in the neutral or mixed section (I like to think is the mixed section, living in harmony, understanding, etc, etc, etc).

Can anybody more in the know comment on the field conditions? I went to the last US-Mex game at Relient and the field was an absolute disgrace. It turned a bad game into an abysmal game. The field was also sh*t for the Gold Cup. On the other hand it was decent for the interliga a couple years ago.

This might not be the forum to post it, but for true futbol fans, I would recommend going to the interliga games even if you do not have a routing interest. You get a quality doubleheader for less than $30. I have gone everyear and it was been well worth the money.

I am not in the know but I believe there is a Monster Jam (monster truck) event scheduled for Feb. 2nd at Reliant so they probably will just bring in new trays of grass a few days before the game and try to patch it together.

I think the field will probably be OK for this game. They should be able to use the grass pallets that they have been growing for the football games this fall and winter. Supposedly the problem they had with the Gold Cup was that they did not have any pallets ready to go in the summer so they had to bring in the rolls of grass and lay those down. The pallet system should be much better.

    I hope so anyway.

That is mildly encouraging, but even their pallets are not that great for soccer. The surface is too hard and the footing not so good. For American football it does not matter, but for soccer it does. I always wonder why profession sporting fields do NOT use St. Augustine grass. It is plush, amazingly resilient, and has a tremendous root structure so cleats will actually grab rather than tearing up a big chunk of whatever type of grass that is currently in use.

Non football or soccer events are not played on the field so others events are irrelevent. Reliant stadium has two complete fields that live outside the stadium on pallets. One of the fields is moved into the stadium a few days before each game, then moved back out the day after. Most of the time the stadium floor is just concrete. Dirt is brought in for the Rodeo and Monster truck events.

History shows that this pallet system is far from dependable and produces spotty field conditions for both american football and soccer. Occasionally the field is good -- but is always a bit thin and firm. Often the field is poor. They have wound up using a lot of green paint at Reliant.

Anyone have an extra SA ticket? I just found out I'll be here for this match and the section is already sold out on ticketmaster.

this is a good way to get your ass kicked around these parts. this gets no points for creativity, lyrics or not much of anything. culero, Texian Army don't roll like the Riot Squad/Galaxians.

I sang it in Chicago and had no problems. I sang it in Phoenix and had no problems.

it has nothing to do with the Riot Squad or the Galaxy, its a song, to the tune of a famous mexican song.

True, but singing it here in the Houston forum isn't appreciated by anyone. Save it for Reliant. We don't want or need that kind of stuff sang here (don't even want our own people doing that...just look at atpag96 :D)

If you have a question/comment for the game, feel free to post. Otherwise, take it to the Inter Rivalries

my apologies. I didnt mean anything by the song, it was just a funny little song made up by US fans back in 05 for the WCQ.

I'm not a racist, or anything near it. When I sang it in Chicago , the mexican fans were laughing with me.

    Back on topic.

It looks like we will be booking our hotel reservations at the Rodeway Inn. It's not too expensive, and from what everyone has said, very close to Reliant.
