I'm booked at the Rodeway Inn for Feb 6th.

Since we will all be arriving at separate times, let's make Brian O Neills our unofficial gathering spot.

    Two Questions:
    1. Can anyone from the Houston area tell me what this neighborhood is like? It's less than a mile from the pub to the Hotel, but is it safe to walk, or should we call a cab?

    2. Does anyone have an extra ticket to the US Supporters section in 116?

Yes, look forward to the atmosphere that night!

We keep it real simple in Houston. More so when its U.S.A. vs Mexico in Texas. It will be Beer, beer and more beer, singing to get ready for the match and then winding the Panchos up with the Sallies that come in to back their "other" team vs el Tri.

I am looking into the need for the Texans FO to let us bring in banners and flag poles. In the past they have been very anti-fun. So we shall see what us U.S.A. die hards can bring in for this massive un-friendly.

As HTown said, it's a good area. No problem walking around. Theoretically, you could walk to Reliant from there if you want to stretch your legs, it's just that close. And you can't miss it either...just head south and follow the traffic! 'Course, the return home would be a crappy walk :D

Anywho, in all seriouxness, a cab from there to the stadium won't be much. When you hit traffic near the Stadium, you can follow the crowd and walk. And there will be traffic. Lots of it.

Can't wait to meet you guys in Feb.

As everyone's mentioned, it's a nice neighborhood and a pretty safe area. The walk down Morningside between the Village and the hotel goes through a quiet residential neighborhood. Most people who live in that area attend or work at Rice University or the Texas Medical Center.

I didn't realize that the Rodeway Inn was still even open, but it's probably a really good find. A lot of the older commercial buildings on or just off Holcombe Blvd., like the Rodeway Inn, which is on Morningside just off Holcombe, are being torn down and replaced with new Med Center-related construction. It's a small, old motel, but the location is really good.

Here's the general site for the Rice Village district:

And this page has links to the restaurants and bars/pubs in the Village:

You probably want to get a ride to the stadium - and a short cab ride really shouldn't cost much.

As an alternative, you could conceivably walk to one of the MetroRail stations in the Med Center area. I'm not sure of the exact distance from Morningside, but it's probably a little more than a mile and would take you a little while to walk. The main Village site above has links to Mapquest maps that you can click around to see the distances.

I'm getting this message from ticketmaster:
Please try one of the options below:
    Change Your Request
If you selected a specific price, section or location, try "Best Available" or "Any Price" instead.

If you used a promotional code or password, check your offer details to verify if the code or password is valid for the specific event or ticket request you're making.

Try a different quantity of tickets. Back »

    Check Back Often
If the event just went on sale, keep trying. When a customer is viewing specific seats, only that customer sees those seats, if a customer decides not to buy, then the seats automatically become available to other customers.
If the event has been on sale a while, check back often, many times tickets become available prior to the event.

I totally agree with the General Admission and have been letting everyone that buys a ticket through The American Outlaws know that it is considered GA.

What's the most recent figure for total ticket sales? USsoccer.com is still showing a late total from around Thanksgiving (23k).

I have two tickets in section 118 (neutral, only one section out of Mexico's 119). My wife didn't know, she thought she was getting great tickets (they would've been if they were on the other side of the stadium). How pro-Mexico do you guys think these seats will be?

Based on the 3 times I've seen Mexico at Reliant? Very.

The last US/Mexico in 03 was only about 60/40 Mexico. Very healthy mix. A lot of people rooting for both sides, too.

anything within 5-10 sections of the Mexican SG will be very pro-Mexican with a healthy mix of US/neutrals.

Unless you are going to be hardcore US (like, bringing a sign and chanting and stuff) you'll be fine. People are nice at these games (I went to the GC dressed in US gear with a anti-Mexico NT sign and had no problem besides some ribbing).

    Cheers

I just found out I'll be here for this game, but the Sam's Army section is sold out on Ticket Master. Anyone have an extra ticket in the section? Or have any idea how I could get one. I haven't missed a US/Mexico game in Sam's Army since 2001 and I'd hate to lose that streak or have to sit with people who will either not be standing and cheering or be pro-Mexican.

The best I could do was section 353, row R, I plan to see if I can just stand around the supporters side or something until I get kicked out (I doubt that would happen but who knows).

Send an email to the American Outlaws. I know that they bought a group order of tickets for the SA section, so they might have a few left. You might want to hurry.

    Hope to see you there.

I should also have details on the tailgate. I have been working with Reliant and a few different groups in Houston. I hope to have all the details wrapped up by the next week or at the latest Jan. 7th.

Yeah partner....not solid. But new songs are always welcomed when it's U.S.A. vs Mexico.

Tailgate plans to be confirmed soon.

    DALE U.S.A.!!!

I don't know the Galaxian, but I sat a few rows behind him and the sombrero at the last USA-Mexico friendly. If he's lost his sombrero, that's truly a sad thing. Hopefully it was musician's license! If not, hope he finds or someone returns el sombrero!

    US vs. Mexico Tailgate:
After working with Reliant Stadium and a bunch of Houston Fans I think we are going to have an awesome tailgate before the US vs. Mexico Game

We are located in Lot 22. Right in the Middle I was told that this is the best spot and where everyone wants to tailgate for the Houston Texans Games

    We will have:
    Large Tent
    Grills Setup for BBQ
    Beer
Porta Potties (stadium took them down so we had to rent some)

Below is a link for the map.
A map can be found online at http://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/content/view/42/37/

Everyone is invited and I would like a head count so I know how much Beer and Food to purchase. It would also be nice if people brought money to help support the tailgate. It is my goal to have a community tailgate at every home game (American Outlaws, Sam's Army it does not matter we just need one to help connect the fans)

Please send me an email if planning on coming
