There are probably more rookies who have contributed at defender than at forward.

    Goodson is 6'4"

    Leathers is 5'8"

Now I'm always the person sticking up for short players, but if you're looking for a replacement for Goodson, a tall guy who is good in the air, Leathers may not be a great place to start.

Now if you go back to Goodson's school, UMaryland you'll find a powerful 6'5" local boy and talented defender named Omar Gonzalez. :D

Thanks USVI. I didn't know a thing about the guy and you answered it. Just thought he must have had something or they wouldn't added him to the squad. Don't suppose he plays right back like Franki Heyduk with supreme skill?

he was a center back at Furman, but will almost certainly be converted to outside back.

Borchers? I imagine Colorado still owns his MLS rights. It would require a trade so I would doubt it.

Do you know if Colorado received any allocation money for Borcher's departure? If they spent any of it, I thought that would give up any rights they had to him.

I don't think they got any because (i think) Borchers was a free agent.

It would be like if Alvarez signed somewhere else right now, FCD would get nothing. But FCD sill owns ALvarez's MLS rights if he were to leave and come back.

I thought teams still received some allocation money if an unsigned free agent left, I just thought it was significantly less than if the player is sold. I seem to recall the Fire getting some kind of allocation when Bocanegra went to Fulham as a free agent.

If we ever used an allocation on Nat Borchers, I would call for the firing of everyone in the FCD organization from Hitch all the way down to Kevin.

I think the key word is "still." I'm fairly sure that doesn't happen anymore.

That's right, but that was then. Not now.

Gooch could be signed... but FCD is 8th on the list. He would go to #1 SJ.
