considering the non importance for both teams it could very well be a cracker. no pressure just go out and play.
Chelsea will line up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows: 1 Petr Cech 20 Paulo Ferreira 33 Tal Ben-Haim 26 John Terry (c) 18 Wayne Bridge 24 Shaun Wright-Phillips 5 Michael Essien 8 Frank Lampard 7 Andriy Shevchenko 14 Claudio Pizarro 21 Salomon Kalou Subs: Carlo Cudicini, Alex, Wayne Bridge, Juliano Belletti, Claude Makelele, Steve Sidwell, John Mikel Obi, Joe Cole. Valencia are expected to line up in a 4-4-2 formation, as follows: Canizares; Miguel, Albiol, Helguera, Moretti; Sunday, Vicente, Marchena, Silva; Morientes, Villa. Subs: Mora, Manuel Fernandes, Mata, Zigic, De Lucas, Rodriguez, Sanchez.
Dissapointing line up, should have rested a few. At least a few of the injured are back. Also it's a sad state of affairs when such a meaningless game for us means someone like Sawyer doesn't even make the bench.
WTF.... Avram Grant must really hate Valencia to risk injury against Arsenal just to knock Valencia out of a UEFA cup spot..
According to http://www.uefa.com/live/competitions/ucl/matchday=6/day=2/match=-1/index.html we're playing a 4-4-2, and the lineup definitely does look more like a 4-4-2 to me than 4-3-3
So much for playing the f'ing youngsters. This is ridiculous. Why call em up if youre not gonna use them.
What the hell? We're already through ffs, why waste our best players for this? It would've been a smart idea to you know, use some youngsters and let them have their fun and get experience when we can rest our best players. I can understand using Essien as he's suspended and it could help him keep sharp (Eboue, you should have been too, EXACT same thing).
seriously. talk about short-sighted. sidwell and the youth should be starting, especially sidwell as he needs to get more time in before ACN.
Exactly. I suppose I can understand that Grant isnt starting Sawyer or Hutch or whoever, but he should have carried them on the bench in case we go up 3-0 with 15 minutes to go.
i remember Grant saying it was important to remain unbeaten in CL and finish the group stage on a high note. There you go.
Sawyer didn't play for the reserves, i guess we're 'resting him' for the FA Youth Cup game on thursday
[rant] on an unrelated note, the fact that setanta tv is showing this match and setanta broadband isn't really has me pissed off. to state it plainly, i freakin' HATE setanta and their licensing rights. the fact you cannae watch an england match without paying them $25 a match (insert "they should've paid ME" joke here) is robbery, but the idea that i cannae watch all the tv programming online even though i pay the same amount is just plain stupid. [/rant] anyone got a stream?
he he he... A romantic notion, but probably as far from the real truth as it is close to it. I said yesterday that terry and lampard would start, yet nobody even asked why I thought that. Well, it's for the same reason that grant has said it important to win this game, and it's got nothing really to do with 'ending on a high note'. It's got more to do with Buck looking at the books and saying, 'Avram, you do realise that a single game win this year is worth just short of £1M, right?....I trust I'm making myself clear Avram' And there you have it ....
