I wonder how is going to look U-20 Canadian National Team? And that’s not just players, but also coaches. Is Mr. Hart going to coach? The same person who fails to qualified for U-17 World Cup. I’m afraid he’s going to be. He is already assistant coach in our Senior Team. Coach who glued himself to the same players for years probably will call them again.
Actually, during the last U17 cycle i think somewhere around 40-50 different players were looked at - this was since the CFU U15 tourny in 2005. The player pool for the next U20's is looking pretty good, i'll find the list i compiled at the V's board and post it here.
Here you go: GK: Jaswinder Gill (89) U. of Alberta Michal Misiewicz (90) Plymouth Julien Latendresse-Levesque (91) Metz Adam Street (91) West Ham Robert Stillo (91) Genoa Defenders: Nana Attakora-Gyan (89) Toronto FC Gabe Gala (89) Toronto FC Kennedy Owusu-Ansah (89) Hertha BSC Olivier Lacoste-Lebuis (90) Strasbourg Alex Martinez (89) Atlas Eddy Sidra (89) Energie Cottbus Philippe Davies (90) Vancouver Tomasz Machul (?) 1860 München Greg Smith (90) Vancouver Adam Straith (90) Vancouver Midfielders: Michael Nonni (89) Groningen Matt Lam (89) Ajax Amsterdam Kyle Bekker (90) Ajax Amsterdam Shaun Saiko (89) Middlesborough Brandon Bonifacio (89) Cambuur-Leuwarden Joey Melo (89) Toronto FC Michael Pereira (89) Providence Dane Roberts (89) Furman Sean Rosa (90) Vancouver Devin Gunenc (90) Vancouver Mohommed Sylla (90) Unattached(NTC-ONT?) I could be mistaken, but I think Adam Street has already played at the U-19 level for England. I don't know if he'd be eligible to play for Canada.
He never played an official match for the England U16's...and then he played for us in U17 qualifying last spring.
Jpg75 is right. Street has been to an English camp but was part of Canada's U-17 qualifying. Tomasz Machul, from what I have seen on Vs, has been capped by the Polish U-20s.
I think anyone can play for their birth country or mother country, multiple times, but they have to make their final decision, when playing for the senior national team.
Maybe coach Hart overlooked 40 to 50 players born in 1990 and later, but he is always playing the same once during big games. Besides that in jpg75 list there are just 22 players from U17 team. Where are the rest of 20 to 30 players? Yes Hart did well when he took over men’s team, and maybe he should stay with them and leave youngsters for somebody who prove himself working with junior’s teams.
Not necessarily. Kevin McKenna is a Forward/Defender combo. The skill sets for a Centre Forward and a Central Defender are quite similar for the most part.
