I keep hearing that Carlos Ruiz is available and I have this unfounded fear he's gonna end up here. If ya' read this Mr. Doyle -- for god's sake, don't do it. again, unfounded fear. but a fear nonetheless. just had to get that off my chest. carry on, carry on.
I just cracked myself up by clicking the "Kick It!" button for this thread. It was surprisingly satisfying. (In honor of Rico Clark, of course...)
One of the key reasons Ruiz is so hated is because he's so good. He's always been one of my favorite players to watch ... and hate. I think he'd look just fine in Black and Blue.
I have a feeling he'd be one of those players in the mold of a Fluery or Marchment that you hate with a passion when opposing but once they lace it up on your team you find it hard pressed to not love.
We will need to get a good freekick taker if he is on our team...he "creates" a lot of fouls. Oh...and also a medical team that can run quickly on to the field.
FUAEG buddy! Are you stoned?! Ruiz is a locker room cancer. He's a spoiled, whining, diving, ankle-kicking bag of crap. Does he have a load of skill? Yes, absolutely. Which is part of why he's so annoying. If he knocked off all the little chippy crap, he might be OK. In any case, I have no fear that Frank or JD will be even slightly tempted by this vile refuse. El Pedito is not a team player. That's one of the reason's that FCKD have gotten tired of him. Frank and JD are looking for guys with good attitudes. Guys who will play for each other and the name on the front of the jerseys. El Pedito is absolutely not that sort of player. GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!! FUAEG! FUMLS! - Mark
Extended version of "Please, no fish!": General (Manager) John: Years ago, you served our team in the Clash (Wars); now we beg you to help us in our struggle against the Galaxy. We regret that we are unable to present our team's request to you in person; but for the past two years, our position as MLS fans has fallen under attack and we're afraid our mission to deter AEG has failed. We've placed information vital to the survival of the SJE into the memory systems of the SJE Board at BigSoccer. Yves will know how to retrieve it. You must see this message safely delivered to him in San Jose. This is our most desperate hour. Help us, Obi-John; you're our only hope. Help us, Obi-John, you're our only hope.
Biggest reason Ruiz isn't coming to San Jose? Money. The value-per-dollar simply isn't there. Beane has Doyle and Yallop playing moneyball.
Maybe. And what you said maybe true, but if Yallop picked him up I'd be happy. I suspect Yallop wouldn't touch him if he didn't think he could manage the attitude issues. And we're not playing Moneyball. We're making space for someone expensive. uh, where'd I put my alligator clip.
Here's a couple of other key reasons he's hated: 1. He plays dirty. Nasty fouls like blows below the belt off the ball. If I'm playing with him, and the other team starts something, that's fine. As a fan bringing my son to games, no way. 2. He dives. 3. He believes he is underpaid (which is probably true) and goes about the wrong way trying to get his money by whining about it and holding out. 4. He's not a team player. I'd be very disappointed to see him in San Jose.
As much as i dont like Ruiz, i've fallowed MLS like a religion since the Quakes 1.0 moved, but he has def. changed his game since being in LA. Sure he does bitch and moan a lot, but he would get us goals. Plus his goals/assist raito is much better than before.
Worse than Graziani. And we got rid of him after he lead the team in scoring. No way is Yallop going to go through THAT again.
not even close. I appreciate players who are good, even if they're on different teams. I hate players who cheat and disrespect the game. believe me, the hate has NOTHING to do with his (declining) ability.
Wow. ...but I've always tried so hard not to heckle our own players, and with that line-up, I wouldn't do anything but heckle those two... Shoot, it might even be worth the price of admission!
^^ What Ringo said. I would be absolutely fine with Ruiz playing for LAG, but not with my team. Aside from his onfield antics which are the primary reason why I don't care for him, Ruiz is notorius for doing whatever he wants, not showing up to practice, or going out of the country for days without telling anyone what he's up to let alone requesting permission. I just don't see why Yallop would want a guy like that as our (most likely) highest-paid player. I sure wouldn't if I were the coach. He's also lost a step, and while he's certainly dangerous and can be effective, I think he's wearing out his welcome where he is now, and it's only sucky teams that are rumored to be interested in his services (CLB, KC, LAG).
