Does anyone know where each country will end up in the World Cup pot now?

Take a look at Pots for WCQ 2010 - UEFA zone. If the projections are correct then Israel is in 18th place (pot 2). However, it is very close - we are only 7 points ahead of Serbia (well within the margin of error) and I don't know what will happen with Serbia's missing game from Saturday.

If Serbia beat Kazakstan in Belgrade on Saturday what happens?
And right now is Israel currently a 2nd seed?

If Edgar's math is correct then we are a 2nd seed (the 7 points difference is within the margin of error). The statement was that only game played by Wednesday will be counted (the ranking are due out tomorrow at 10am CET). If that is still the case then the result of the Serbia - Kazakhstan game will have no impact on the ranking.

At this point all we can do is wait.

When is the first qualifier for the WC 10 games? It's too bad about Euro 08. So close I could taste it....

Don't know yet, have to wait for the draw and then the teams in each group get to decide.

Based on the past, UEFA qualifiers are likely to start in August 2008 (few games). The first full slate is going to be in early September 2008. Last set of game will probably take place in October 2009 and the playoff in November 2009.

we got GREEECE! we also have switzerland and moldova, latvia and luxembourg. This is the best chance we have EVER had to make the world cup. switzerland is a good team, but we can manage them. Greece can be great, but they were the worst of the top seeds. COME ON YISRAEL. WE CAN DO IT!!! WERE GOING TO THE WORLD CUP!!!!

I'm happy. Winning the group is not out of the question.
Every country in Israel's qualifying group for World Cup 2006 has exactly one other country from that group in their group for qualifying for World Cup 2010 (Israel and Switzerland, France and Faroe Islands, Ireland Republic and Cyprus).

Israel receives possibly the weakest group in my opinion, Greece are definitely a beatable side and so are Switzerland. With a string of good results and assuming we take care of the games versus the weaker teams, we can qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

    Group 2
    Greece
    Israel
    Switzerland
    Moldova
    Latvia
    Luxembourg

I wouldnt excactly say greece is a beatable side, as they won the last euro cup and beat portugal twice. Also the swiss arnt that bad either, but hopefully we can get a result this time around. If we get 2 draws vs greece im fine with that but we need to beat the swiss for sure

Beatable means that we can beat them, and I believe Israel can beat any team at home if they play well. If we can get a tie in Greece but if we want to qualify from the first place position we are going to have to win all our games at home, and beat the three weaker teams both at home and away.

You are absolutely right. The key game is going to be Greece at home - it is a must win game, the home game vs. Switzerland is almost as vital. Getting the full 18 points from the bottom pots teams is a must, but I will not be surprised if one of the top 3 pots teams will lose some points to these teams.

Best for us is if Switzerland and Greece tie both games vs. each other. This will give us first place with two home wins vs. these teams (24 points total) regardless of how we do away (since both Greece & Switzerland would have lost 7 points already).
