South Africa has announced their rosters for their games against Canada and (the US on Nov 17). The Rosters for S.A. will be completely different. Here is the squad facing Canada.

Goalkeepers: Rowen Fernandez (Arminia Bielefeld, Germany), Moeneeb Josephs (Wits University)

Defenders: Brett Evans (Ajax Cape Town), Bevan Fransman (Moroka Swallows), Ashraf Hendricks (Wits University), Tsepo Masilela (Maccabi Haifa, Israel), Vuyo Mere, Benson Mhlongo (both Mamelodi Sundowns), Bryce Moon (Ajax Cape Town),

Midfielders: Brent Carelse (Mamelodi Sundowns), Lance Davids (Djurgardens, Sweden), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Lamontville Golden Arrows), Teko Modise (Orlando Pirates), Lebogang Mothibantwa (Bloemfontein Celtic), Bernard Parker (Thanda Royal Zulu), Bamuza Sono (Jomo Cosmos), Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs)

Forwards: Lerato Chabangu (Mameodi Sundowns), Bennet Chenene (Orlando Pirates), Thembinkosi Fanteni (Ajax Cape Town), Norman Smith (Lamontville Golden Arrows).

I haven't heard of many of these teams so I am assuming that this will be a contingent of domestic players for this game. I can't wait to see who Canada will name to the roster...I heard that foreign players were likely to get the call as most domestic are now out of form. Except for DeRo:D

Wow...looking at the article...it appears most of their foreign players will suit up against the US, probably because it is the Nelson Mandella Challenge or something along that line. If this is like a second team, I hope we rout them baldy. We need a good win!

Three Posts in a row....can you tell I am excited. I heard that Sportsnet is picking up the feed. Something like a 12:30 Et start time. The schedule is not available yet so I can't confirm this news.

Also from the Voyguers Website, one poster put up the Canadian Roster, however I don't know if he has insider info or is just bs'ing everyone.

    http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13554&whichpage=6

GK - Lars Hirschfeld, Kenny Stamatopoulos
D - Andre Hainault, Mike Klukowski, Kevin McKenna, Richard Hastings
D/M - Marcel Dejong, Paul Salteri, Atiba Hutchinson
M - Julian De Guzman, Josh Simpson, Patrice Bernier, Issey Nakajima-Farran
M/F - Tomasz Radzinski, Will Johnson, Iain Hume
    F - Olivier Occean

Could not find the announcement anywhere on the web so I cannot confirm this is accurate. Although this looks pretty much like the roster we would expect to see.

Looks like De Jong is going to be making his debut for CMNT.

Too bad Jim Brennan didn't get call up for this game.

Radzinski didn't play well against Costa Rica, because he had just transfered and hadn't played or trained in over a month. He scored two goals the other day in Greece and is an important part of our team, he deserves to be there.

World Cup qualifying starts in less than 12 months, until now we must prepare the players who will take us trough the qualifiers with similar friendlies. We must become less and less dependant on him as he hasn't much left in him considering his age.Therefor, shouldn't have been considered for this friendly regardless of if he scores or not as he as 2 years left at most playing at this level.

Radz still has a lot to offer our team. With his pace he could be lethal as a late sub against tired Defensive Lines.

It's awesome we're going to have de Jong in the line-up, for awhile it was thought he'd choose Netherlands. He probably figured with all the really good Midfielders the Dutch are producing at this time his chances would be limited.

As long as Radz is the best option at his position he should be on the team. One poor game when he is not in game shape should not take him out of the lineup. Whether or not he is able to play in 2010 should we qualify is irrelevant. The first step is to qualify and we have to play our top players at the present time. If his skills decline because of age and playing in a lesser (but still decent) team and league he will need to be replaced but I have seen no sign of that so far.

There is a valid line of thought in terms of his age though. This is a friendly, afterall. You want to play your best in the games that matter, whereas a game like this is good to play some young guys, to give them the international experience.

Of course, it's also good to gel a team together, in which case you need your best players.

Well I truly hope that we'll find a younger replacement for him soon.Radzinski will be 34 when the qualifiers will start,he might be effective against the worst that CONCACAF has but don't expect him to do much damage against defenders such as Rafa Marquez,Felipe Baloy,Carlos Bocanegra who will be in their prime...They'll outrun him all over the pitch!Anyone remember Peschosolido in 2004?

Re: Canada Roster Vs. South Africa (Friendly)

Radz is still pretty fast. Pesch slowing down is totally unrelated to Radz's situation especially since Pesch was never the level of player that Radz was. In most of our recent games Radz was probably our fastest and hardest working player. He is playing behind a lone striker and the alternatives to him are DeRo (not available maybe a bit better offensively at the moment but less well rounded and poor when he needs to defend, also a very poor passer unlike Radz), Hume (probably his hier apparent but still hasn't shown enough to replace him yet) and Peters (not ready for prime time). We don't have a lot of time to gel the team before WCQ begins so I would still favour starting our A lineup as much as we can though I wouldn't complain if Hume got the start. A good compromise would be for each to play one half because Radz needs to show he can still play at a high level and Hume needs to show he can excel at the internation level (he has been disappointing to me in most of his senior appearances).

The US took the South African first team 1-0 on Friday. I hope our boys bring it against the B side.

Nope they lost 2-0 against that B team.
I saw most of the game and it was not pretty.
Team play just wasn't there and transition was terrible.

Dale Mitchell, what can you say... even with good players he can't get results.
Why they hired him I don't know maybe he works really cheap.
This is a good group of players and they deserve a better training staff.

Really disturbing ... Really, really disturbing. I stopped watching after they lost a man, but I wanted to stop watching much earlier. It makes me wonder if the U20 did have talent, and this turkey turned them into mush. Remember, after the U20 he avoided personal blame and claimed the team didn't have the talent. What's he gonna claim now ...

He's totally inept!! Perhaps a coaching imbecile!! We're doomed!!! :(

I think he's winless in ... could be ten games? There's three friendlies with MNT (against equal or lower ranked teams!), then there's three at the U20. Then ... there's another U20 with the Czechs ... and what, Argentina, and two of the Brazil games? Unless they played USA after Brazil, that would be ten straight winless?

We bwon against the USA U-20's sometime in June...so it must be 7 games winless streak.

The numbers don't lie but excuses do...

Stephen Hart did a better job with Canada than Mitchell. Let's face it. We have a do or die situation here and if we don't make it this World Cup it maybe a long time until we do make it. I think we should go get Bora now that he was let go by Jamaica. Mitchell blamed the players for the U-20 tournament....who does that? Really, disappointed that he's there in the first place.

Hey I'm with guppy--I feel exactly the same way he does. (Hope they change his water . . . probably needs it after that game! Lol.)

But seriously, it makes you feel a little hopeless about going into qualifying under Dale M. The boys just looked like a high school side out there. My God if we don't qualifyt this time, will we ever? Well the draw is Sunday. Let's see how that shakes down.

Lets just pretend that the South Africa game never happened and we enter the draw this weekend coming off the costa rica game in which we played very well.

Didn't see the game, but man, I would be nervous if I were you all about qualifying. The last two coaches actually were getting results at the time they departed. They ought to as gently as possible move Mitchell into another position and either re-hire Hart or sign Arena, or even go after Kinnear or even Lavolpe.

It's too bad that you need to do it now if it's going to happen. You'd like to give a loyal servant like Mitchell more of a shot. But if you were inclined to make a change, you would have to do it PDQ. Otherwise, you're rolling the dice with Mitchell.

I believe Hart is one of Mitchell's assistants.
