Looks like Home Depot Center gets MLS Cup 2008.

The Galaxy have to be there. You know, playing in it.

As Cadaver said in another thread, now we know we're not going to be in it!

But I'm still excited to go to my 1st MLS Cup. StillKickin - I think you've gotta be there.

I'm going regardless of who's playing. I missed the first two cups in LA because I didn't pay attention to MLS back then. Here's my chance for redemption.

I was at and enjoyed the Fire v. DCU match in 1998. While I was bummed that our 1998 "greatest ever" team tripped in the playoffs, my unbounded hatred of DCU gave me a rooting interest. I had a great time seeing them lose.

However, the last time we had one - San Jose v. Somebody - I really didn't care how it came out. I went because it was part of my season ticket package, but mostly I was bored, and then angry watching smurfs win the cup in our house. On the whole, I was pretty sorry I bothered to go to that one.

So I have real mixed feelings about this.

I'm there. This just makes the season that much more exciting knowing if we make the final it's in our home.

It sounds like they hope Beckham will get LAG there, it would make great selling point.

Of course I hope they make it, but, yeah, tradition says they won't simply because we are hosting.

I'm wondering if we are hosting, or if we will be joint hosts with Chivas or something.

Cadaver, I'm sure the MLS Cup will not be included with the season tickets this time! I expect it will be expensive, and will easily sell out.

Well, judging by Lalas' comments, we are hosting:

Anyway, can't wait. It will be my fourth final after going in 2003, 2004, and 2005. I don't know why, but I had a feeling the final was going to be here. This time we better be in it, as 2003 and 2004 were dismal years for us.

Alexi is really bugging me. Win MLS Cup? I'm all for it, but how about a modicum of humility first from a team that hasn't been in the playoffs since Pando struck his one & only goal in MLS? Cart before the horse always with him.

as if we needed more evidence that chivas is simply renting our stadium.

i agree, though at the same time you just have to make it to the play-offs, and then it's just a crap shoot.

Dont want to ruffle any feathers here, but from an economical standpoint wouldnt it make more sense to move the Final to a bigger stadium?

I mean, I love the fact that I may get to watch the final from my comfy season seat, but if they can pack 40,000 in RFK why wouldnt they want to aim bigger?? The Coliseum?? (which sucks, I know Im creating an argument against myself here) but trying to spin money seems like a Garber thing and having finals in a football arena or something would seem the logical thing.

I think a packed to the gills HDC will not only look better on tv and feel better in the stadium (much more energy), but 30,000 in HDC makes Uncle Phil a lot more $$$$ than 45,000 in a rented stadium.
