Bayern set sights on Benitez November 17 2007 Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have reportedly singled out Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez to become their new manager. Ottmar Hitzfeld is unlikely to remain in his post at the Allianz Arena beyond the summer. This despite some heavy spending on the likes of Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Franck Ribery - players that have taken the Bavarian outfit to the top of the league table. The Daily Mail claims that tensions behind the scenes at Bayern will mean Hitzfeld, who is in his second spell in charge, will not have his contract renewed beyond the end of this season. Indeed Hitzfeld, twice a winner of the World Coach of the Year award, has reportedly told friends he will take over as coach of the Switzerland national team after Euro 2008. Reports suggest that Munich have already approached Benitez about taking over at the German club, but the Spaniard is likely to rebuff their offer. http://www.itv-football.co.uk/story/0,19239,6145_2888374,00.html Bayern's boss Rummenige did in fact criticize Hitzfeld, charging that the club is not going in the right direction - he sat down with Ottmar and they agreed to discuss his contract in January. Some guy from the Swiss federation hinted that Hitzfeld will coach Switzerland after Euroo 2008. Daily Mirror and Times have broken this story. Benitez surely does not look good in Lederhosen...they should chase Jose instead...
Bayern can ******** off! (no offense to ForeverRed) If Rafa didn't leave for Inter or Real Madrid, I doubt he will leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich. That is unless he gets fired, which better not happen.
Yeah, what he said And in other news Liverbird would like to sleep with Scarlett Johansen ---that ain't happening either
I don't think Rafa wants to leave just now for anywhere. It is a compliment that our manager is coveted by other important clubs but he is striving to build a legacy at Liverpool and it is a long term project. I would be surprised if Rafa is not the boss when the new stadium opens.
Yeah like I said above, if he said no to Inter an no to Real Madrid then he's not gonna get up and leave just for Bayern. It just won't happen.
KEY WORD...WANT...they have no chance, he will most likely only go back to Spain or stay in england...his game style fits the spanish and english games more, especially the english game
HAHAHAHAHA This is on the same level as if Kidderminster targeted him. Why the ******** would he want to go to a crap team in a crap league?
In other news Liverpool FC have approached ME to takeover when Rafa goes to Bayern........... Whats that Scarlett- oh I'm dreaming and snoring again- sorry darl!
I let Scarlett look at your post on my laptop in bed this morning. I thought she was going to die.....
Don't worry people, it won't happen. Just ignore it and try not to buy into any of it. Even if there is an officiall offer, I can't see Rafa going to Germany. In the event of Hitzfeld not extending, Management will most likely extend and offer to Mourinho or someone within Germany. And any speculation of internal turmoil at Bayern is just BS from the stupid press.
Rafa to Munchen. "I guess I'm flattered that you'd ask but ... piss off" http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N157741071119-1210.htm
Sure, the league might not be as good as the Prem, but to call Bayern a crap team is a little bit of an overstatement. Kahn, Sagnol, Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Toni, Klose, Ribery, Lucio, Van Bommel. That's a pretty good list of good players.
Bayern had a down year last year, I know this is off track, but they are on course to winning the Bundesliga and will probably do well in the UEFA Cup. I don't want to jinx them though.
I wounder how much would we got paid for if Bayern Munich did take Rafa away from us because today with all the talk about 3m quid paid to Brummies for the services of Fathead, it would be something interesting to know P.S I am not saying I want Rafa gone, just a question that popped in my head watching ssn
