of the new players brought in during the yallop/lalas 18 months a good deal of them were either canadian national or former san jose players.
    =============
I agree with you.I hope Yallop will take his people with him.(Jazic,Harmes or maybe Cannon)

We should start fresh with a new coach.(Lazy players should be gone, after
Gullit watched the tapes, he should know which one should go and which one should stay)

We've had 3 euro signings so far: Herzog, Xavier, and Beckham. Herzog was great before The Evil One benched him and might have even played another year with the right conditions (read: a real coach). Xavier was one of the best defenders in the league last year. He's a class above, and he'll show it this upcoming season.
I guess the jury's still out on the other guy.
Who would you like to have... Andreas Herzog, Quavas Kirk, or Josh Gardner? Or Abel Xavier, Kyle Veris, or Ty Harden?

Other than the fact he played no defense and was gassed at 60 minutes, Herzog was great :D

    HA HA HA

That's some selective memory for you.

X started well but was poor for several matches in a row before injury sidelined him. He has much to prove in MLS next season, if he even returns.

    Let's keep it real.

He was great, and a class above everyone in those first few matches, but you are right...the last few games he played, he really didn't do well...not to mention he was a no show for nearly every game on synthetic turf.

If he plays the way he did in the first few games ALL season next year, he'll be a star to me. As is, he is yet another G with a lot of potential...

I agree. Think he was a bit overrated. Made his presence felt but made some awful mistakes. Definitely didn't solidify our defense as we hoped for. And really let us down when we needed him most.

    -----------

Anywho. Anyone else see AEG grooming Cobi for coach and Beckham for general manager?

Is there any chance he'll perform better without 3 rookies next to him next year? Not that Jazic is a rook, but Randolf and Veris were. Sure they improved but with almost our entire back line sucking, injured or both, I think we may see a more cohesive unit once they've learned more of each others' style. What do you think?

I think that's pretty fair. I hope. But we'll see.

Keep it Real? He was still one of the better forwards in this league last year hands down on what was one of the worst teams in the league. His string of poor matches Id chalk up to a horrible backline where some of our regular lame/uneducated/unskilled defenders went down with injuries. X was the man to handle the entire backline of clowns and was often caught out of position trying to cover for other peoples mistakes. Youre singling him out only because he is the experienced player. Let us not forget Cannon wasnt playing well up until that point either. I think he was hovering around a 2.00 GAA at that point in the season and many of us were calling for him to get benched.

Its really narrow visioned of you by saying the rest of us have selective memory when youre choosing not to say what was really going on.

It's all about RUUD here in JAPAN - For the last two mornings (it's Monday AM now), the sports pages and TV Sports have splashed the LAG / BECKS / RUUD as their lead story .. ..

It doesn't matter if RUUD is a mediocre coach - he will bring another whole level of skill sets to the practice pitch and stop pampering all of the pansy LAG players .. ..

And even if he turns out to be a bad coach, just the experience alone will be worth bringing him here - Wish FRANK all the best as well - He deserved better than he got in Los Angeles!

    GO GALAXY!

Didn't want to start a new thread so i'll ask this here..For all of you that know Ruud better then us, as a coach, does Ruud have "his guys?" Are there any players that may follow Ruud here? Most coaches tend to have players that follow them, just like we can consider Cannon and Donovan to be Yallops guys. so does Ruud have any of these?

Hallo, alltogether,i wright from germany ,so hope to have an information about ruud.I think he will not wait until march,Ruud is already in search for new players!I am sure about it!Money is there at Galaxy,so i think we will win the MLS next season!it will be a completely new side in 2008 season! The only problem about Ruud is,that he is an attaking-thinking coach,so Galaxy will concede many goals but we will score more so it´s ain´t a problem! No my heart is with LA Galaxy-we are the new champs!!!That´s a team Ruud might build for the next season!!!It´s just my vision of how it might look like,so don´t judge me too hard. Here we go:Babos(a hungarian goalie,Gullit worked with him at feyenoord,a good one and still young for a keeper).Paolo Maldini(AC Milan),Costacurta(AC Milan),Ostlund(swedish international, currently at Southampton, worked with Ruud at Feyenoord),Mtiliga(a very young promising lad,at the moment at excelsior rotterdam)-Midfield-Beckham,Edgar Davids,Bart Goor(a captain of RSC Anderlechet in Belgium-a good friend of Ruud, played under him at Feyenoord),Donovan.Strikers-Kluivert,Inzaghi!

Are any of "his guys" available on free transfers (i.e. they will be out of contract soon) or are older (over 30) more senior players who have been with their club some time and have sufficiently good relations that they would be let out of their contracts?

Gullitfan... great ideas. The only problem is we have a salary cap issue here in MLS. What are the salaries of some of these players you mention?

Gullit: sign Cannavaro, Van Nistelrooy, and Pablo Garcia...
Lalas: we can't, we're only allowed 1 DP.
    Gullit: DP?
Lalas: Designated Player, everyone else has to be under the cap.
Gullit: A cap, like a hat?
Lalas: No, our salary cap. We're only allowed 2 million by the league.
Gullit: Well, with 2 million, it's a little low but for 2 million you can get a decent player.
Lalas: No, it's 2 million for the team! That's the league maximum.
    Gullit: What?
Lalas: But don't worry, we can get an allocation for being shut out of the playoffs.
Gullit: Allocation? Playoffs? (looks really puzzled)
Lalas: Don't worry, you'll get used to it.

  22. Can you do the ENRON trick? Pay them under the salary cap and the rest by a fake company that hires them for promo activities?
Come to think about it, I might be well suited for the Finacial Managent Job. I'm full of rules dodging ideas:D

It was rumored that Chivas was doing this with Suarez although both he and team denied it.

Welcome, Gullitfan. As others have mentioned, we have limits on how much the team can spend for our total payroll. Also, we have "Senior International" and "Youth International" limits - we can only sign, I believe, up to 4 SI's (foreign players not holding green cards who are 25 years of age and older during a given season) and 3 YI's.

Most of our team will be moderate to low-paid Americans, I'm afraid! I hope Gullit can bring out the best in them.
