are u watching this shit, fans are braking the security glass and Atalanta players are calming them down
match suspended, it's official. good call, someone was getting killed if they played that one though.
sigh, more death , and another black eye for italian soccer, this is getting old, and we wonder why the big stars don't want to play here anymore. this was the correct decision, imho, i reiterate, they shouldn't have even tried to go forward as their were clashes before the game and flares being thrown. this was a recipe for disaster. at least they didn't try to go through with it anyways.
another sad day for italian football but as i mentioned on another thread if this keeps happening then it could lead to european bans for italian teams until fans safety can be guaranteed to a better extent than it is at this minute in time.
i heard they might try to resume the match in a little while . that would seem like a bad decision unless the curva is cleared out, and even then it ain't a good idea. not sure if that is true, though.
Dream on ... football is big business. They played on September 11th. UEFA didn't cancel champions league when bombs went off in Madrid. There is too much money involved for that.
I heard Milan fans moved into the curva with the Atlanta fans and they are all singing "suspend the match"
excuse me? i'm a fan of italian football and milan in particular. i enjoyed the hospitality of the fans and the city last season in the CL. i don't desire it to happen i merely state it as a possibility. yes, football is big business but the money and fan base is gradually slipping from serie a. football was big business in england. it didn't stop english teams being banned from european competition. the two events mentioned weren't the cause of fan or police violence in or around stadiums. this is a different kettle of fish.
yeah, i think the fans all around wanted it suspended, they weren't fighting each other, they are pissed the match is being played after the fan was killed it seems.
The Atalanta fans are always a little extreme. I wouldn't be surprised if they are handed a lengthy home ban. I understand a fan was killed and all, but it had nothing to do with Atalanta-Milan and nothing to do with football violence. A police officer shot the fan, not another fan. I understand why Inter-Lazio was postponed but Atalanta-Milan should've went on, just like the other games.
matches weren't suspended on sept 11th. but i'm sure the matches for sept12th were all cancelled. i may be wrong here but i think that was the case.
They are talking about what happened and why on RAI right now during the break of the Fiorentina/Udinese game. Unfortunately, I don't speak Italian. Anyone else watching and speak Italian? Do any of you have any idea why did the fans get riled up at the Atalanta/Milan game and not the other games? I can see wanting to not play to honor the fan who died, but why only here? I am new to following Italian football and this is all very confusing and disturbing to me.
So Lazio and Juventus fans fighting at a motorway service station has nothing to do with football violence?
i know, i posted that before I knew the story and I just heard about a policeman killing a fan. I just read all the news, it is football violence. Stupid Ultras. They are a burden on Calcio.
I know this might sound controversial, but i kind of am with the fans. a policeman gets killed by fans (well allegedly, still not sure exactly what happened, has there ever been a definitive answer exactly what happened with raciti?) and they rightly postpone matches, but police kill a fan and 10 minutes delay? i thought all the matches should have been postponed myself. again, just my opinion, but i kind of see why their pissed.
