If MLS players sometimes require weeks before they can be cleared to play in the US - wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that Gullit will face the same issues to coach the Galaxy? Any thoughts on this?
use your head, have you ever heard of a manage having a visa issue, Work Permit is a UK thing unless we are still part of the empire it is a non issue.
I am using my head numnuts. Many foreign imports to MLS have had to go back home after the announcements to get their visas in order - or papers stamped or whatever. In a few cases - DC United comes to mind - players got caught in immigration hell and it took longer than expected (DC's guy took 2 years if I remember correctly). With Beckham and Angel we knew well in advance when they were coming so you never heard much of timing problems. With Gullit though - he's got to have his papers in order right soon if he's going to get paid for leading the team in Australia etc. And when you make the case for a visa you have to to some extent make the case that the available labor pool is so limited etc. . . Kind of hard to make that case though when you consider the best American coach is available. Granted this is with an H1-B visa bias - but still - papers have to be filed and put in order before Gullit can see his first paycheck.
Well supposedly, per immigration rules, if you have something to offer this nation like a singer, and artist or sportsman they can get it easily. Just as the players get their visas failry quickly at least as opposed to every day Joe's, I'm sure AEG can use their pull to get one just as fast for Rudd.
I heard on his visa application, Gullit wrote in the "special skills" box, "I can get Donovan not to disappear in a few of our games." Hey--it's an official government document--you don't get extra points by lying.
Nahhh. All the Galaxy would have to do is show the ICE folks any of team's snooze-worthy performance under Yallop this season. There would be absolutely no question that the team needed a new coach, from Europe, Japan, or a hideous space reptile from beyond the moon. I wouldn't worry about it....
He is using his head. Foreigners need to acquire a work visa/permit if they plan to work in the US for more than a year. My cousin from Canada had to get one when he moved out here. http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/
