I'd like to jack off on your grandmother's face.

Mero, you don't me. I do want everyone in his family to get cancer, and not some slow growing, treatment responding kind, but the really nasty shit that just hiccups at chemo and eats you alive. And when they're trying to pull the plug on them or pull their stomach tube, I want to be there and file all kinds of anti-euthanasia lawsuits ala Terri Schaivo to keep them alive as long as possible.

Wanchope made every player on our team play bad tonight

I think you're dead wrong and you should listen to your wife

Your wife knows better. Wanchope was so useless it was like playing a man down the whole game.

A man down would have been better. Man down has a better touch.

I agree- Wanchope could not even win headers against players shorter than he was

Well now they have all off season to integrate their front line and try to gel together... Maybe we'll see some different strikers signed during the off season.

I hope you mean Disintegrate the front line. Chope must go home, Chad needs to get to the pine, and Carr needs to be moved to MID permanently. We need a striker to start who will bury the chances Cuah gives him. Cuah is only here two more years. We need a striker to give the finishing Cuahs servicing deserves. A Paolo Rossi, Cabanas, Palermo, Salas type. Obvioulsy needs to be in the twilight of his career too make him affordable. OR maybe a young columbian forward version of Conde.

    Baaaaaaahhh! Right score, wrong team.

How much did you bet? Everything. Thank you for playing Jeopardy. Enjoy the home edition and our other lovely parting gifts.

Well, Taylor will either be the John Elway or Jim Kelly of MLS. There's no real in-between here. As a DC fan, I'm not keen on the former, all due respect to the Revs. The latter would be a really good waste of valuable Sunday morning sleep time.

It is not about being offended. There are ways to get your point across without having to resort to infantile behavior.
But if he and you need to use that language - go right ahead- embarass yourselves.

Right now he's busy feeding him orange slices and telling him "that's how it goes sometimes buddy. Remember when you scored on Germany."

    More on that later.

From here till eternity I will not understand that starting lineup. My jaw about hit the floor when I saw the ESPN graphic appear. Wanchope starting? Conde as a midfielder?

If there is one legitimate gripe that people can have about Osorio it is that he has some allegiance to Wanchope that nobody else understands. Two soft goals and minute after minute of downright horrendous play and the guy gets the starting nod over and over again. I could list every shortcoming Wanchope has, but we've all heard it before. Tonight he absolutely killed the attack better than any Revolution player short of Sharlie Joseph. Ultimately he brings nothing to the game. I will be supremely disappointed to see him return next season.

Almost as puzzling to me as Wanchope up top was Conde as the left midfielder. I've got nothing but respect for Conde as a defender and a large degree of respect for Conde as a defensive midfielder, but a winger he is not. Offensively speaking the guy has decent speed, a strong leg, and good passing ability; however he lacks creativity and the ability to regularly run at the opposition. His transition back to defense around the 75th minute immediately locked down the back. There is no reason Conde doesn't stay anchoring the Fire backline next season.

The Chris Armas of earlier this season returned tonight, and it was really a sad way to see him go out. Since Blanco's arrival Armas has abandoned his offensive aspirations and done what he does best, play the destroyer role in midfield and stifle the opposing attack. When he is/was at his best was when he was left to play this role with the odd foray into the attacking third. Armas doesn't have a great deal of offensive abilities and his passing can be awful sometimes.

Tonight we saw him try to take the team on his shoulders by playing an offensive role and all it did was hurt the team. I'm sure as the heart and soul of the team he wanted to lead them to victory, but sometimes a good leader just plays a role. I have nothing but respect for the guy, but if we're to expect more games like tonight from him, then I hope he makes the decision to retire.

The team appeared to be coming down from the streak we saw them on the last month and a half. It was most evident in the passing. Hospital balls left and right. Missed targets up and down the field. Poor decisions to play the ball to certain people who didn't have the space to operate. This was not the same team we've watched since September. Maybe it was the lineup, maybe the guys just didn't have any magic left, but it was evident early on that things would be different this game.

I'm sure I'll have more to add tomorrow and in the next few days.

    Shit.

After today's game you really, really have to question Osorio's abilities as a MANAGER, not a trainer, I'm saying as a manager here. He did awesome things since he arrived (heck, how could he not do great when he replaced Dave?) but seriously, I do have big doubts about his managing abilities. You could win half a season and you could win a playoffs series in MLS by having an OK coach but you can't be great and consistent without a great manager and that's what Fire are lacking at this time.

I would keep him for another year IF he comes up with real explanation of his terrible decisions in today's game and see what happens with him next year. But he got to explain to Front Office why he picked WanchoSCUM as his forward for 90 MINUTES and didn't bring in Carr until the last 4 minutes in the game.

Now we have to watch the freaking boring a$$ Revs in the final again. Another bad MLS Cup to add to MLS history.

Well, that was disappointing. In contrast to our last 3 season ending games at gillette, we actually outplayed the revs and dominated the midfield. Whenever an attack went through Wanchope, though, it died. I can forgive Osorio for starting him this game and I wasn't shocked to see him in the starting lineup, but I have trouble understanding why he wasn't subbed out at or near the beginning of the second half. This wasn't his worst performance of the season, but it was close.

Carr got something like 5 minutes including stoppage time . . . we needed him out there much sooner. Subs I'd have liked to see:
Carr for Wanchope early in the second half
Mapp for Barrett (with Rolfe moving to forward) a little while later assuming we were still down

I'm assuming Barrett was subbed because he was tired, because I thought he looked pretty good and we needed offensive players on the field. He didn't do everything right, but he turned a couple of half chances into very good scoring opportunities and he worked harder than just about anyone else on the field.

Defensively we were solid for much of the game, but had a few 5-10 minute periods where we lapsed into defensive mistakes. The revs really could've scored another goal or 2. I don't remember how the goal developed (and I really don't feel like going back to watch it right now), but it was a great goal by Twellman. As a fire fan, I'd have liked to see the goal called back for dangerous play  (Dasan's head was right up there and you technically aren't supposed to attempt bikes in crowded areas), but looking at it from a completely objective point of view, I'll admit it was a nice goal.

We had the chances to win this game, but Osorio made some bad sub decisions and I can forgive him for that. He, Blanco, and Conde turned our season from what could've been our worst season ever into a very exciting and competitive season and I'm satisfied with that. Comparing our teams before and after the all-star break is like night and day. I have a feeling 2008 will be day all season long.

Oh, but now that the revs are in the final, we have another scoreless MLS Cup to look forward to. That's kind of our fault, isn't it?

You HAVE to give him a complete season. There's no question about it in my mind. It's difficult to tell how much of our turnaround was a result of the Blanco and Conde signings, in addition to Rolfe's recovery and how much of it was Osorio's coaching. His substitution patterns in certain games (tonight especially) were very suspect, but he has made some intelligent moves (Rolfe to midfield, Conde to dmid) and he got a lot out of some players that a lot of people had given up on, like Pause and Armas. Part of that could have been the effect of playing with Blanco, but I'm inclined to give Osorio a lot of the credit, at least for pause.

Give him the off- and pre-seasons to turn this from Dave's team into his own team, then we can evaluate him further after we see what he's done with our 2008 season.
