Pele was one of the best players ever and nobody will deny that BUT he is not a smart dude. The guy is an idiot when it comes to managing and analaysing, he didn't even make it past middle school in Brazil.

Pele, you are an awesome player we all enjoyed watching but you are not a smart guy and stay away from that stuff. I've heard a bunch of dumb things from you through out your times here and there and you need to stop so you don't expose yourself to the world who respect you.

I wasn't alive for Pele's glorious years, but man he seems to tarnish his own history by saying way too much.

The league Pele dominated was a poor business. It sounds like it was the Harlem Globetrotters. And now, he, the biggest recipient of that poor business, soccer league, thinks that the MLS, a strong business with every capability to grow, should be more like NASL!

Who cares? Keep the microphone out of his hand.

In the meantime, he is correct that salaries will have to be raised, but to overhaul the league and blow salaries up without proportion to league growth, would be a nightmare, and a deathwish.

    Good to you Pele.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the most important thing.

Nobody said Beckham was going to come in and score a ton of goals. There were constant disclaimers that while Beckham is a top player, he isn't a pure goal scorer. So, Pele, keep to facts, and well, just be quiet.

Go join Maradona and hang out with the coolest fascist dictator on the earth...but keep America's name out your mouth!

And on the last post, I meant,

Good Day to you Sir Pele.

Even Beckham had to remark about Pele's comments, albeit in a nicer way than BS posters. :D

Probably England's payoff so he supports their 2018 World Cup bod over the U.S. bid.

I just ran across this story independently and came here to vent. Having read the thread, I guess I don't need to. :)

    Poor Pele,

he sounds a bit detached from what is really going on here in the US and MLS. He reminds me of Chinaglia but with some class.

I wish he would stop worrying about these things. The MLS never mentioned him being a goal scorer, but a free kick and passin specialist.

I think Beckham will have a better season next year, barring any injuries of course.

look no need to trash talk pele. he brought it where it mattered the main stage.

Lets take it easy, he is the best player that ever was, i think he desreves a little more respect than that.

Why dont you settle down, before you get your ass beat. What the point of being a fan if you cant offer a little more respect tot eh best player on the pitch the sport ever had.

    Is he suggesting "a little?"

They've opened them up a little. And then a little more. Sorry they haven't done it as quickly as you or the Black Pearl would like. But, it's their money, not his or yours.

Make sure you don't fall asleep the next time the free market economy comes up in one of your classes, son. It'll be a big help.

I really hope you are being sarcastic.

That said PELE needs to shut the heck up or pony up some money for an expansion team and show us how it is done.

People should leave Pele alone. Don't you know that when old people talk you should just smile and nod? No need to flame an old man, then again this is the BS message board....

With "Pele finds it no surprise that David Beckham is a huge disappointment in the U.S." (emphasis mine) as the teaser. Something tells me this thread is about to get scarygood. :p Hooray!
