Basically your tentative team of the season. You can update as regularly as you feel like. Remember folks, this is based on form for this season and nothing else.

I tried to incorporate the players in positions they've actually played a lot this season, but it doesn't work out perfectly from a tactical standpoint (van der Vaart pushed out right).

    --------------------------ROST----------------------------
    -----------------LUCIO-----------MERTESACKER------------
    -LAHM---------------------------------------------ATOUBA-
    --------------------------FRINGS---------------------------
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    --------v. DER VAART-----DIEGO-------RIBERY--------------
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------TONI-------KLOSE---------------------

On the radar: Christian Schulz (Hannover 96), Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich), Ashkan Dejagah (VfL Wolfsburg), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Vincent Kompany (Hamburg SV), Andreas Goerlitz (Karlsruher SC)

Don't think it's the wrong section. I think we agreed on letting general threads here in the general forum.
Apart from the prediciton threads there's not enough traffic here anyway.

I like your line-up. To be honest I always have a hard time doing all-star line-ups as I simply don't watch enough games of all teams to judge the players and it's always a bit weird to only trust highlights and kicker ratings.

Markus Miller has been one of the main reason's for KSC's ascendancy. I don't think that can be ignored.

Also Frings has played all of 4 minutes this season. Including him only shows you like him

And VDV really? Been a good #10, but his team doesn't score, so he can't be "the best".

And a Spurs supporter, I must ignore all evidence of Atouba's form and remember that he sucked ass for us :D

    Miller
    Boateng - Demichelis - Lucio - Pander/Lucio
Hajnal - Ze Roberto - Diego - Huzsti
    Toni - Sanogo

van der Vaart's team is second in the league and he just tied the team record of consecutive games with a goal scored, he's a sure thing for the allstar-11.

He's never been much of a playmaker actually. He sets people up now and then, but usually he's more of a scorer.

Well if he's not a playmaker then he shouldn't even get an honorable mention. If he were a forward and scored all of those goals then great. But a midfielder that doesn't provide, sure as heck doesn't defend and scored a lot of PK's. And his "team" has done it with defense and without him. So as CM there are way too many others of quality that would push him into average.

Ze Roberto, Ribery, Diego, Jansen, Hajnal, Marcelino-Yo, Schneider, Bruggink have all done more.

I'd exchange Bruggink for VdV in a heartbeat. Heck, Bruggink doesn't even start. (don't get me wrong, he's not a bad player, but not a great one neither). I think VdV is the best midfielder in the BL after Diego and Ribery. No classical 10, but he does push his team and provides. Don't understand where this rant come from, honestly.

What makes you think that he "doesn't provide"?
He is one of the top-scorers of the league, only Klose, Toni and Diego are ahead of him, all play on teams with a much more offensive playing style.

I don't know about you, but I consider a midfielder who scores seven goals much more impressive than a forward who does the same.

van der Vaart is the key to Hamburg's game, he provides the offense when a goal is needed.

As for him not defending. Have you ever seen him play for Hamburg?
He's no Jarolim or Olic, who are all over the field, but he does everything a player in his position should do, Huub Stevens wouldn't allow him to slack off on the defensive side of the game.
When Stevens took over from Doll, he actually had to tell van der Vaart to reduce his defensive work, because he was doing to much on defense to be effective on offense as well.

I see no reason to rank anyone ahead of him right now. He's up there with Ribery and Diego, honorable mention to Hajnal.

Including Frings was a mistake, I admit, but Van der Vaart is an obvious pick. He's carried his team to #2 with goalscoring and amazing passing.

And I'm very surprised you picked Toni over Klose. Klose is tied for the leading goalscorer so far and has the second most assists of anyone in the BL. That said, I think they've both been better than Sanogo.
