Overtime? I couldn't watch the game, but it looks like they went into double overtime. Why? Houston was in the lead going into 90 minutes.
I want to thank Arturo Alvarez for kicking Brad Davis in the nuts because that change the entire game. We love you in Houston Alvarez!!!!!!!!!
Luck was on 790 yesterday morning as part of a contest. They asked for e-mails about why people hated soccer. They gave tickets to the 5 best e-mailers. It would be interesting to see if those people still think soccer sucks.
Re: Overtime? It was aggregate scoring and Dallas won 1-0 in the first leg, meaning our 2-1 lead was actually 2-2. And once you go into overtime you play both overtime periods regardless of what happens.
I was thinking about those fans, I bet the way Dallas played re-enforced some of their opinions but the excitment the Dynamo provided in the second half and overtime had to change those opinions.
I noticed the same thing, DeRo was out on the wing more with Davis staying in the middle. It seemed strange to make that change at this point in the season. Maybe Davis wasn't fit enough to go the full 90 on the wing?
Maybe Davis is just a good ball distributor and he played well in the middle. DeRo could do more 1 v 1 moves on the wing. 5 man midfield last night was brilliant. --------Ngwenya----Ching------------ DeRo--------------------------Mullan -------Davis---Mulrooney--Holden---- Barrett---------Robinson-------Cochrane --------------Onstad------------------
This is true, while he was doing the post game interview on the field he was wearing. He stopped and posed for a picture in it for somebody so there should be a high quality version out soon.
Ok, you know what? This is surprising, but you go on the FC boards (and, uh, even here) and you see Dallas fans actually saying nice things about the Dynamo and our fans. Weird, huh? I was hoping that it might sink in to those Infernos who were at the game last night, and the ones watching in Dallas. Last night's game had an atmosphere I don't think has ever been seen in Dallas. And our players played with heart that I haven't seen from FC players (though I admit, I've only been paying attention to them for the past two years.) There is a reason that we can get over 30,000 to a game and they have trouble getting to 15,000. Actually, there are many reasons. And they don't all have to do with the fans themselves in either city. In my opinion, this would not be a good time to go to the FC boards and do the "you guys suck!" thing. I think they're starting to sort of realize it on their own and they don't need our help. Let's leave them alone to analyze what they have. Actually, like I've always said, it would be awesome to have both cities constantly sell out their stadiums and stand and cheer the entire game. We have a ways to go in that department, too, though last night was a huge step forward. And remember, the trash talk you hear from Dallas fans is dumb and is mostly found only on BS, not so much from the average fans at the game up there. We all love soccer, we should hope that it grows everywhere. We're doing our part I think, let's hope Dallas stops whining and does their part too. Leave them alone.
Wow, what a fantastic game! Holden's goal was absolutely HUGE. Until then I had this uneasy feeling this was going to be one of those games where we dominate the play, but don't get the result. That goal opened the flood gates.
Link Bernardo's grades on the Dynamo... Link Lark's pre-analysis blog (he wants to calm down and sleep before hand...)
and one more thing.... I've read some people criticize DeRo's game last night, but I think in the last two games he's really played well. He made some spectacular plays last night, he held onto the ball well and got the ball forward like he's supposed to. And he was really fun to watch. Too bad he didn't make a goal, but it's not all about the goals. At least when you win.
that the type of foul i expect from a boy from st.thomas high right here in houston. Jesuit owns thomas!
Yea, DeRo is still our best player. he was running his ass off last night. I know because he was chasing the ball and I could see the drive in his eyes as he was running right at me.
I will second what someone said a few posts ago to make sure i get my point across here. TA/EB were hard to hear at times, but you looked incredible. The smoke bombs, the flares, and the constant dancing was phenomenal. I think one reason the Inferior was sitting down because i think they realize that if we had 1/4th of the TA/EB in the stands of what we had last night, they (the inferior) still couldn't come close. I truly believe that the "let's go Dynamo" chant you guys started in the second half is a major reason why we scored. The Orange intensity went up big time during that chant with 30,000 people screaming. Please keep doing what you do.
DeRo really stepped it up last night. I thought he wasn't very good at Frisco but last night he played much better even though it won't show up in the scoresheet. He hustled around on defense and at one point in the first extra time he was marking back on the opposite side of the field from his position. I think he is much more effective as a wide/floating player rather than as central mid.
We did it before and we did it again. I was surprised how few Dallas players went over to the South end to applaud the travelling Dallas supporters. I saw Ruiz, of all people, and Cooper go over there and applaud their supporters, but even in a devastatingly emotional loss, more of their players should still have gone over and thanked their most dedicated fans. Don't tolerate that crap. If you feel that you can't reasonably stop it on your own, then go find security and get them removed. That's always wrong and it should never be tolerated in our stadiums.
Sounds like I missed one hell of a game. It seems like it would be games like this that would be good for the league. Can't believe it wasn't on tv.
Coach Kinnaer mentioned in his post game comments that the strategy was to bring DeRosario up high on the left against Rhine so that Rhine woul dbe forced to stay back on defense more. Davis obviously pinched in a lot more and was very good creating from deep with Mulrooney. DeRosario didn't play his best game, but he was very good. When you give that guy space, he is going to punish you and it was no surprise to see him pick out Ching on the series tying goal.
