The DC-Fire game just finished--what drama!! what an exciting and despairing game!! It is really too bad that DC lost the way they did--but it just goes to show just how valuable scoring during the first leg is. DC had enough to score two, but they couldn't score another to tie the aggregate. It was such a heroic effort too--DC scored two in the second half after losing 2-0 going into halftime. The whole second half was DC being super aggressive and Chicago holding on for dear life--except for one counter there near the end where Chicago almost scored on a one on one against the DC goalie.

It is a very bitter loss to have to accept if you're a DC fan, and a stunning and thrilling upset if you're a Fire fan. So Cuaohtemoc and company go on to the Eastern Conf Final. Curse of the Supporter's Shield strikes again??!!

In a way it is a shame that the #1 team in the league is eliminated in the first round--but that is the raw cruelty of the american system--if you cant produce when all the chips are down then it's over.... Perhaps in the future the first place finisher in the east and the first place finisher in the west should get an automatic bye into the second round? Or maybe not--i'm sure Chicago feels good that the #1 seed had to play the 1st round of the playoffs.

What a night for soccer!!! Hopefully the rest of the playoffs will be just as electric as tonight.

This only tells that they need to change the format so that the higher seed of the match gets home field first then away.

Overall, one of the best matches ever.

Just think how much better it would have been in a packed soccer specific stadium.

I have to say, as a neutral observer, I wish that Gomez goal would have been legit. This game was so exciting... I wanted another 30 minutes of action. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for these playoffs, because that was great. Congrats to Chicago.

I think it may be a little more than that. Looks like the Supporter's Shield curse strikes again.

yes it does appear that MLS is starting to develop its first big "myth", albeit a myth based on very real and very spooky facts. It really does seem that in MLS 8 times out of 10 winning the SS can be dangerous for your playoff health.

What a magnificent way to start the playoff action for this weekend.

It is too bad that two of DC's best players were hurt and not themselves. They nearly overcame it in the end, but it was just too much to ask to make up for losing a 20 goal scorer. Now maybe DC and Chivas can form a support group for those having lost their best players.

I can't help but think that the ball would have bounced very similarly even if Gomez hadn't handled it. Ohhh what could have been... :(

attendence was just under 20k, and 7/8 of that were all die hard fans, that is the way it should be.

it's a shame for the DC supporters to go through this, they have been one of the most loyal fans since the league started, you would think that someone would notice what kind of support their generating and notice the dollars flying around. My hat goes out to all the DC supporters, you made watching this game a much more enjoyable.

How was it only 19,483. I swear they said in the broadcast it was 30,000 and it sure looked way more than 20,000.

Yahhoooeeee! That was a slick handball if intentionally done. Other than that; he was pushing the whole way. So there should've been a call of some sorts...

I hope it is not NY and then again I hope it is not Revs, only because of their stadiums and these awful football lines on the field....
