Yes, I jacked the thread title from Ives. Here's the link to his original article: http://njmg.typepad.com/sbi/2007/10/finding-signs-o.html Here's one I found while watching a trailer on Apple's site. Looks like the main character in the movie played for the MetroStars. What are some other examples of MLS that you've come across in everyday life? http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/bella/trailer/
I saw a guy wearing a Galaxy away jersey with Beckham on it and I remember a girl wearing a DC United jersey. A difference from most of the Euro leagues that I see around here.
I saw a guy at walmart with a throwback galaxy jersey (think '97 version). I think I scared him or something cause I stared for about 5 seconds too long. That and every couple of months I'll see someone with a crew shirt on....
FC Dallas is pretty big at my school, and there's one or two Chicago and DC jerseys. I'm surprised by the number of MLS jerseys I've seen this year.
Saw a Blanco Fire jersey all the way in San Jose, California. It really shows Blanco's stature in the Mexican-American community.
Every year I see more and more Galaxy jersey's. Living in Los Angeles I can tell you that back in 96' the Gal's got zero love and now people recognize that they are a MAJOR LEAGUE team in the area.
I play quite a bit of online poker and I have a United logo as my avatar. So everyone at my table sees it. Occasionally people ask me about it. Sometimes people say "Vamos United" or something like that. I had a long conversation with a Liverpool supporter the other day. He started by asking if my avatar was a football crest. Saw a guy called MetroFan the other day as well.
I saw a crop circle the other day that was in the shape of the FC Dallas logo. I think even aliens are taking notice.
Wear all my NY gear constantly around the city still get those wdf looks but then again I MLS is going to become big Wear your MLS gear around town the league will grow.
I was at Disney World a couple of months ago, and saw a Fire, and RSL. The thing that I was really supprised by was that in the American pavilion at epcot they were selling Beckham jerseys along with other Beckham/Galaxy related items. No other players or teams, but an entire rack of Beckham stuff there.
I saw a commercial on ABC for Home Depot with 4 MLS players- 1 NER (Avery John?) 1 FCD (Kenny Cooper?) 1 LAG (Kyle Martino?) 1 Fire (Chris Armas?)
Cobi Jones and the Galaxy are on the tv set (close up) in the movie "Pleasantville". The MLS acronym is now on the screen fairly continuously on the ESPN ticker.
I saw the same thing, but it was late at night and I was very tired, and the next morning I thought I must have dreamt it, no kidding. Glad to know it was for real.
