“I think everybody knows I love America. I always say that one day I can play over there,” Henry said. “I would love to. But it’s still early. Don’t get me wrong, I just love the U.S. I don’t know why. I love the way you live. I love American sports. For me, it’s a dream to go to training and then see a game of football, basketball, whatever game. For me, New York is the best city in the world.”

“Yes, I do get recognized when I’m in the States sometimes, but it’s not like in Europe. In New York and in America, I can be myself, I have no eyes on me. It’s O.K. if I want to buy a slice of pizza, pay the man and sit on a bench. I can go to the cinema and watch a movie, and nobody knows who I am. You don’t know how great that it is.”

Can you imagine us having Angel and Henry up top? Great success!
Too bad he just signed a 4 year deal. Hey it's okay to dream.

This happens all the time with us though. Europeans identify with NY. Its like a stored response to say MLS one day and NYC in the same sentence.

Henry in 2009 for Red Bull Park....that would be something.

Henry would be done at age 34 when his contract runs out. So if he wants to play in NY we should lure him away before that. Otherwise I can see plenty of formidable options besides him in 2011.

I say try to bring Henry over after his third year of his four year contract and try to get him on a transfer. Red Bull has the money and Barcelona will be happy, so will we.

It's too early in the contracts to start thinking of the Henry and Ronaldo. Henry is where he wants to be right now, and when he is free, he'll be 34 years-old. 31-year-old Ronaldo will be with Milan for a while (I believe he signed a 2 year) and will play after recovering from a strange injury he got from kicking a ball in practice. He'll be close to Henry's age when the contact expires.

Del Piero's situation made sense because his contract wasn't agreed upon then, so he had his options. Plus, he could have worked with Angel and Altidore.

Angel was actually going to be Hentry's strike partner at one point just that after his stunning season with Villa they told Arsenal they would have to pay a boat load of money thus ending negotiations. Either way Henry is in Barca will most likely stay there for a while so Angel,Altidore, and Doe should do for know :)

Please, what Henry loves is a fat paycheck as he attempts to play out the last few years of his career, once his services are no longer needed in europe. I just don't see it happening within the next couple of years after that he's just older and slower not interested. Angel is just fine.

Someone start up the george weah rumor again, or maybe ronaldo.

Oh my goodness, George Weah! Boy, talk about a player that was so linked with the MetroStars (back then) that he was just about made an honorary member! That's a blast from the past...I think he'll be joining us with Ronaldo!

How old is Henry now? 30? 31? 2009 might be a bit optimistic. '10 or '11 would be a better bet. We might even be in Harrison by then.

Seeing Titi put on a clinic en route to a hattrick against Boro two Januarys ago was the single greatest individual performance I've ever witnessed. He's still the greatest forward in the world. We should be flattered by his interest and hopeful this might one day happen.

I've always thought it a disgrace that Weah so very much wanted to play for us but MFO never made it happen.

Henry would fill RBP. It will take a star of his calibre for the club to make the splash it needs when the doors are opened in Harrison.

Based on Thierry Henry's pure talent, the Red Bulls should attempt to lure him at the earliest possible moment. But does he have (as someone suggested) an "all about me" attitude that would corrupt the team?

Keep in mind that Henry made a name for himself at Arsenal. It got to the point that the players around him (Last season) would always try to pass the ball to him because he's Theirry Henry.

Also, Wenger likes to rebuild with young players. Henry and Ljungberg (With the exception of Toure and Lehmann) were the only remaining players that Henry played alongside of for many years. So I wouldn't be surprised if most of the youngsters were in awe of Henry and would just try to appease him.

Truth be told, I'd like to see him play here in maybe two years, three at the max. He'd be a great improvement to the style of play and could draw in the more knowledgeable fans.

Side Note: No offense to any Arsenal fans on this board as I respect Wenger for that talent finding of his but I honestly think he has a phobia of players over 30. (Pires may be an exception.)

Recent comments from Fabregas confirm that the Young Guns were in awe of Titi, but that was more a matter of seniority and talismanic authority. Without him the youngsters are out of his considerable shadow and are able to grow into their own full potential. But that doesn't mean Henry is in any way a selfish player. So no, Tim, I don't think it is at all accurate to say he is an "all about me" player. He never would have joined Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Messi & co if that was the case. I think people forget how unselfish he can be with the ball, how he takes as much if not more delight in creating a scoring opportunity as finishing one.
