Assuming Gibbs ever gets over his JOBitis (I know, I know...not the best assumption to make, but it seems like he's on the trail back...for now)... where do you see him fittin in the CB or even the LB situation? For me, IF he gets healthy and gets a bunch of playing time...he could have a shot at being a starter at CB... what's your take?
theres an article on yanks-abroad.com straight from the horse's mouth, he is apparently "on the verge". So the South Africa friendly could be a definite possibility. Im just as excited as anyone about that I honestly think he will play left back for us, much to the appeasing of big soccer who will be brought to their knees in joyous glee at John Bornstein not lining up left for us anymore. I think Cory has the capacity to be our best CB, i just dont think that is where we will use him. As much as we want to, BB isnt gonna mess with the Boca-Gooch middle. Gibbs has looked great out left though when playing there, the Germany friendly and Morrocco friendly are examples of that. I think recent trends will continue on that front, Gibbs will play left back for us. He certainly clamps down his side, and even gets up field well and puts in a good cross, thats what surprised me most during the Germany friendly. He could have been the best american on the field that game.
Um, I hope he stays as far away from the left back position as possible. Playing LB would make him too much like JOB, and I'm not sure we need another JOB.
Gibbs just injured his foot in a reserve match. http://www.charlton-athletic.co.uk/newsview.ink?nid=31402
OMFG.....you cant be serious...... I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they had to amputate his entire leg. the JOB flag has officially been bestowed to a new owner, and his name is Cory Gibbs but hey that means more John Bornstein! *ducks*

no wait, we can still use him in our favor Giffenbone, start a thread close to this new Mexico friendly date asking "Will Mexico ever beat us again"?
I hereby resign from all thread starting until I have been voted back in thread starting confidence by the BS community. However, it does not mean I will refrain from still making ridiculous posts in an attempt to reverse my thread starting jinx.
Thats a shame because he is a talented player, hopefully he can recover from this but he sort of reminds me of kieron dyer who had a bunch of injuries but then came back and did good, hopefully the same happens with gibbs
its 3 metatarsals, so projection is 2-4 months. Its not euro career ending, but it was close. So long as he can play a role in the closing part of Charlton's campaign and make an impact, he can still possibly get a starting gig with Charlton, who, so far look the role of an automatically promoted team even without him. Best case scenario, he comes back in january, worst case, march, and will probably need a few games with the reserves, the usual for recooping players. So yeah, projectionwise he still has a chance. If Cory had the luck of a regular person, it could be just the nick of time. How he recovers from this will determine the tale, if he is a possible premiership player via promotion, or someone praying for a gig in MLS. Theres still hope so ill hold out for it. But seriously, how unlucky can you get, he wasnt tackled or anything, it was just the way he landed by the sounds of it .
just got this from Charlton's website.......its over The American international was looking forward to forcing his way into Alan Pardew's plans, and had hoped to finally get some football with the Addicks but only 23 minutes into his reserve comeback on Monday he broke not one, not two but three metatarsals in his left foot, which looks like ruling him out for this season too, Alan Pardew told the Addicks site: 'This guy has been very unlucky in his career at Charlton and I feel for him. 'He's a really top guy who is so disheartened after suffering this latest injury. 'It was an impact injury, not one that just happened. I know the rest of the squad will rally round him because football clubs are very supportive like that.' Since signing a pre-contract in 2006 he has been forced to miss the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany with a knee injury, and then missed the whole of last season (apart from 45 minutes of reserve football) with that injury and other knocks, so with him now looking like missing this season too this will mean in two seasons with the Addicks he will have not made a single first team appearance. Cory Gibbs' Addicks career could be over before it has started, as although he has 18-months left on his current contract he will have his work cut out to force his way back in when he is eventually fit as Alan Pardew has plenty of other defensive options, and would almost certainly look to add to this further should an instant return to the Premier League be achieved.
