If you want to align yourself with posters who call these women bitc**es that's up to you. You all continue to be high expectation fans, if that's what your crew wants to call itself. My point was not that good people don't get upset but that they mantain some sense of right and wrong while upset. It's no wonder the same crew supported Solo's lack of good sense while upset.

I wish to align myself with the people who want Greg Ryan to be fired. Now. I want that to happen in order to make a statement that gross incompetence isn't acceptable when you're the coach of the USWNT.

Who called whom what isn't very important compared to that. This isn't kindergarten.

What's the medal for 6th? Tin? Paper? Plastic? Ryan would look good in those!! ;)

"It's not whether you win or 'loose', it's how your fans respond to it that matters."

Sweet... you've just entered another episode of ..."The Stepford Fans!"

Plxix (wacky smile on her face): Guess what? We just came in 6th place at the Olympics!

Lynne (also has perfect smile on face): Sweet! What a showing; at least we weren't dead last! Ya know, you always have to look on the bright side... that glass is half full, ya know!!

Bolo (huge smile): Hey, I didn't expect to 'loose' but at least my high expectations didn't result in negative name calling! Better luck next time ladies... the other teams were just more skillful and you simply got outplayed... no biggie! We still love ya...even though you're loosers! You can't always win, boys and girls...sometimes you gotta loose.

Kim-GoBeat! (aka KGB)...(also big happy goofy smile): Lets grab some marshmallows, light the campfire and sing our theme song!!

    Everyone: YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

    Everyone (arm in arm, singing):
    Cumbaya my Lord, Cumbaya
We're all smilin' my Lord, Cumbaya
We're all loosers my Lord, Cumbaya
    Oh Lord, Cumbaya
We didn't call them b*tches my Lord, Cumbaya
Glad we're Stepford Fans my lord, Cumbaya
    Oh Lord, Cumbaya!!!!!!

::Hope steps up and sings a solo verse::

Hope Solo: I didn't loose my cool this time, Cumbaya
I've learned my lesson Lord, Cumbaya
    Oh Lord, Cumbaya!
Ryan's a big looser again, Cumbaya
But, I didn't broadcast it on CNN, Cumbaya
    Oh Lord, Cumbaya!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ****The End****

Hadn't been on here in a while...Hope you all still have a good sense of humor!!! ...Kim

Clearly you have not been following the post in this forum.

    Poor Hope's dreams were shattered
Poor Hope didn't get to eat with the team
Poor Hope didn't get to get her medal with the team
Poor Hope had to fly home alone.....

    Kindergarten is a perfect description.

The coach made a decision, it didn't work out, get over it it's not the end of the world.

What kind of Kindergarten did you go to, Bolo? Shattered dreams, teams, medals and flying alone? Not what I was thinking about at age 5!

Yes, Bolo, it's not the end of the world. The coach did a bad job and should be fired for that. That won't be the end of the world either.

I just love how Hope managed to get this in public again. She certainly set up Ryan and Scurry. No matter what or whether these two are successful or not, either way it proves that Scurry was bad, at least in that game. And Solo wont need to say anymore as it is in black and white and in public as part of her statement/apology. As to the rest of the conspirators am sure Solo has not time for them and karma will eventually take care of that. I would not be surprised if Hope ends up playing in Europe and making a bundle. With all of this gratuitous marketing her fee just went up.

Compared to the rest of the world, the USWNT spent the most money and invested the greatest amount of time between residency camp, friendlies and the few tournaments that played in. To expect that they would play for the Title is not unreasonable.

BTW, they are no longer enjoying success compared to the amount of money spent on the program. They should have the best SOCCER players on the team and not the group of entitled players that they have now. The US does not know how to develop soccer players nor is there any real competition for spots on this team

Brazil felt they had something to play for given Ryan's pre-match comments about them playing dirty (it's not the exact term he used, but it's the gist of what he said). They could have cared less who played in goal for the US. It was in the NY Times. Now if I could only find the link....

However, I have said before this switch probably had an effect on team chemistry. I don't believe any of them for one second who say it didn't.

I think one point you're not really giving enough weight is that Hope's comments were made in the heat of the moment, they were not premeditated. Of course if Hope thought she was going to actually "help" Ryan out she would've kept her mouth shut. She misspoke when she was very emotional and felt "wronged" rightly/wrongly by the coach. She was reacting honestly and said what she felt.

Ryan on the other hand was very calculating and got the most out of the whole Hope affair to his advantage. I just find that despicable, touse someone elses misfortune for your gain. Especially, when Ryan actually had a hand in Hope's misfortune. It kinda just rubs me the wrong way you know. Instead of takingthe high road he capitalized on her mistake.

Oh well, I guess it will be over soon as everyone is starting to say the right thing. Unfortunately Ryan is still around...:(

That decision had the butterfly effect on this team. For those who don't know what that is, it's the phenomenon whereby a small change at one place in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere. As minor of a change as Ryan and the "team leaders" thought that the goal keeper switch was, it had some serious repercussions. Whether or not Hope was right or wrong to do what she did, the main focus of any of this should be that Greg Ryan screwed up and he should be held accountable for that. He screwed over his team, he screwed over Scurry, he screwed over Hope, and he screwed over the fans. He took a risk that did not pay off and he should be man enough to admit. He should be professional enough to admit it. Instead of glossing this all over with the Hope deal, he should have just stepped up and said "I screwed up. I took a risk that on paper looked good but it turned out to have some pretty serious consequences. I let down the team and the fans and for that, I'm sorry." Whether or not Hope is reading a prepared apology or not, fact is she has apologized and is making amends. Ryan should be doing the same.

If you are going to be silly enough to bring up the butterfly effect, then of course you have to consider the other end of the equation, that we won't know what effect Solo would have had on the game, ever. You opinion as to that is as valuable as a dog turd. You simply can't say what effect she would have had.

You see, the way in works in sports is that the coach usually is held accountable. Based on press reports and common opinioin, pretty much everyone thought it was a bad decision when it happened. But he obviously is accountable because coaches are accountable. Now if what you are talking about is that there should be consequences, that is of course a separate issue.

Why? In what strange world do you live in that requires athletes or coaches who screw up to "come clean". It's frankly the most bizarre, ********ed up aspect of this whole idiotic renting of Youth Large t-shirts. Who the ******** cares if a loser coach admits it? Who the ******** cares if Solo issues one, two, or three inartfully worded apologies.

After every season of every college or professional sport there are large numbers of coaches who are fired. What kind of vengeful dope sits around and sheds tears because they did not get an apology?

No, I don't know what effect Hope would have had on the game, I never said I did. All I was saying is that the switch had an effect, whether on the outcome of the game, chemistry of the team, whatever, the decision to switch goalies had an effect.

That is what I was talking about, sorry I didn't make the more clear.

I don't expect or require coaches or athletes to come clean when they screw up. I could care less if Hope issues 18 apologies or none at all. What I was trying to get across, and again, I'm sorry if it didn't come out the way I wanted, is that if people are going to require Hope to issue an apology cuz she screwed up, which she did, then why shouldn't anyone ask Ryan to do the same? I'm arguing in theory here.

A previous poster has already touched on the topic but the butterfly effect (sensitive dependence in chaos theory) has infinite permutations and based on that fact alone it is impossible to use it to prove your point.

If your subscribing to sensitive dependence in chaos theory there are infinite alternate outcomes. It's just as likely that Ryan's decision to bench Solo saved her from a career ending injury, prevented a team bus accident, will be what she defines as her growth moment when she's 34 and does get the start in 2015 or causes 14 year old Mary Smith distraught by the loss to practice hours a day to be better than Marta and allows her to be the best player in the world in 2012 as it is likely to have caused a negative change in team dynamics.

The very nature of the sensitive dependence in chaos theory makes it impossible for you to know if the change caused was positive or negative.

I do give you credit for at least trying to take a new approach to this argument.

Actually, Bolo, I agree with your description of how this seems like kindergarten.

However, it's been the 20 Strong who are the ones acting like they are five years-old.

No really think about it, the posters here, not hope are acting like this is kindergarten. Hope didn't say any of these things the same posters who are calling the players a bunch of sorority girls are acting like the team and hope are children.

Hope's dreams were shattered = Hope should have been Cinderella in the play.

Hope didn't get to eat with the team = Hope didn't get to eat at the popular table.

Hope didn't get to get her medal with the team = Hope didn't get a star from the teacher.

Fair enough. Although in terms of apologies, I am not sure anyone knows the genesis as to why any of the apologies came out. If you learned that the public apologies were all Solo's idea, would that change the theory at all?

I just think all public apologies when it comes to sports are a waste of time.
