Ten years ago today, the Chicago Fire was founded on the lawn just south of Navy Pier. Ten years later, we have four US Open Cups, a Supporters Shield, several Eastern, Central and Western Conference Trophies, an MLS Cup and our own stadium -a pretty good first decade. Happy birthday Fire. Thank you Peter for the past 10 years (well 5 for me) wouldn't have been possible without your hard work and endless dedication. For me, you will always be the heart and soul of the Fire I've come to know and love. I'll admit I had trepidation with the changes in management and ownership but I have to say that the team I've watched in the past couple of months has reminded of why I came to love this sport and this team. With their new coach they have returned to the amazing team I love to watch. Peter, I would like to personally thank you for everything you have done for this team and me. In no other sport would a present or former general manager make himself so accessible to the fans. I have such special memories of my conversations with you. Especially the time you sang Happy Birthday to me at Soldier Field. I will treasure that one all my life. Thank you for bringing this team to us, and for not abandoning it or us when AEG abandoned you. Laura
Get some sleep Peter! Happy Birthday to my club. To what has become a bond between my son and I. That magical connection that will (hopefully) see us through his teenage years and into adulthood. We can disagree about anything else, but the Fire will always be our common denominator.
If I was more of a techy, I would post a picture of Hristo saluting. Happy Birthday Fire! In addition to all of the great team accomplishments listed by Peter, we have had Nowak, Stoitchkov and Blanco in our midfield (and all still in good form when they arrived). We have had young Americans like Beasley, Rolfe and Wolff. We have had MLS stalwarts like Razov and Armas. We have had discoveries that went on to be absolute rocks like CJ. No other team has had the consistent parade of great talent and personalities. It has truly been a great ride. I echo all of the praise heaped on Peter and would lump in Bob Bradley with that as the two of them worked so well together to build the team that we all immediately fell in love with. I would also like to give a big thumbs up to Don, Marcin, Liam and the dozens of others who took some small disparate early support and stirred the big melting pot into the best fan support in the league. Sorry if I missed some of the current leaders of Section 8 as I am now kind of a removed family guy admiring from afar.

Just to add some perspective, it is my birthday too. knew this team would be good when the peole running it were astute enough to announce a team called Chicag Fire on the anniversary of the actual fire. And just to add some perspective, it is my birthday too. So I have that going for me...which is nice.
Happy birthday to the team of my heart! I remember my first game vs DC that year. I was amazed and I knew I'd love this team. 10 years later, I have only fallen more in love with the Fire. I've asked people to come along so they could experience what soccer is about and most of them have just taken this team as well. Here's to the Fire become bigger and even greater! Sto Lat Fire! I had just returned to my hometown after eight years of exile in Florida and what a wonderful gift I received welcoming me home! And then to win the MLS Cup and Open Cup in the first year. It has been a great 10 years. And now my sons are just as rabid as I am. Thank you Peter for getting it done right the first time. Now, let's win another MLS Cup this year!
