They should be punished, just not competitively.

A fine, mandate some higher security measures in future games or something... Not a competitive deduction.

That might be a bit much, but I'd say they'd take that over a points deduction.

    Wow.

Liverpool just showed that it cannot play against a five-man midfield. Is it that hard to adjust to two DMs? How many touches did Gerrard and Sissoko have?

    Completely outplayed.

Has Gerrard played a single quality game since he got hurt?

I've seen I think 3... and he's been completely out of it in all of them.

Then again the dude did beat the ref up. Slightly different than tickling a goalkeepers' neck. :p

Dida was stretchered off though the fan barely touched him!

Play their next CL home match in an empty house, ban the fan for life, and give Dida a one match ban for his dive.

Dida is working on his next career, and he needs a lot of work. As for the fan, I'd bet on the lifetime ban.

It seems to me that the issue that draws the punishment is not so much what he did to Dida, but the fact that the club's security arrangements were such that he was able to get on the pitch at all. The dive was pathetic, and I'm sure he was barely touched. But they'll come down hard in the name of deterring potentially more harmful attacks, and I'd have to say with good reason.

they're looking like crap right now. they have one of the oldest teams in europe and are looking it.

if i'm not mistaken they havent won a game in serie A, and arent looking good in the CL.

edit: check that, they've got one win in serie A

Its difficult to stop fans getting on the pitch but for him to get on the pitch and off again without being arrested or even chased is very lax. At the very least you would think the CCTV would have spotted what part of the crowd he came from and went to after.

I think its pretty despicable Dida milking it to the extreme. Though at least it highlights it as a problem, we seem to be getting more and more pitch invasions again lately. Punches aimed at referees and players, do we wait for someone to get hurt first?
