The fire made people buy the tickets in a multi game pack to get tickets for the galaxy game, when/if he doesn't play this is bad pr. Buyer beware or not, those people will be pissed and less likely to buy tickets again That affects all of you, the more other people don't spend is the more you have to spend if you want to see the league grow and attract more talent. No I don't think there should be mandatory refunds, but the fire/league should be coming up with something other than saying too bad.
I remember when the Fire used the marketing ploy of "See the first game in the new stadium" only to find out later it was really the 2nd game. I also remember them using Schevchenko in marketing when AC Milan even if after it was learned he was having surgery and wasn't making the trip - I don't remember them offering refunds then. Buyer beware!
I don't remember a Shevchenko portal before you got to the Fire Website. Also, AC Milan had a little more to offer than just Shevchenko. Not sure the Galaxy have anything else. Come see Donovan? I also remember a lot of grumbling on the second home opener. Anyways like I said there are a lot more reasons to see the Fire Galaxy game now so I don't think if Beckham plays it won't be bad. But if this was a Blancoless, Sarachan, AEG, team playing LA and Beckham didn't play then they should give refunds.
I don't know. If the Fire were selling tickets based on only seeing Beckman and the bum doesn't show, then maybe the Fire should do something for the fans. Like a voucher good for next year. I don't see it happening. Caveat emptor - MLS is like all sports -screwing their fans!!!!
i wish i can get a ticket for te L.A. game for a reasonable price....I havent missed a game since the celtic game, If we make it to the playoffs is there HOMe and away games? or is it just one game....I dont know how the playoffs work in the MSL
Anyone asking for beckham refunds is watching the wrong sport to begin with because obviously you aren't coming to watch the beautiful game. You are coming to watch an over the hill player who was over-marketed from the start. I think this "refund crisis" is still part of the becks effect and is still a way the media is using to draw attention to soccer in the states when the real attention should be given to the game itself and the blancos, emillios, and angels who are healthy enough to make every game and produce results. That's when the mls will begin to see real, long-lasting results.
Did the Bears fans get refunds when Urlacher was hurt? Did the Falcons give refunds when Vick got Indicted? Did the Cubs give refunds when Soriano was hurt? Did Barcelona give refunds when Ronaldiinho was hurt? Did the Sox give refunds because they suck? NO Besides, I saw an article either on FOX or Espn today that Beckham returned to practice today so hell probably play. If he doesnt ill take Posh sitting on the sideline in a thong bikini as a substitute.
Based on this week's Season Ticket email, the Fire is far from considering a refund. They are trying to sell $75 card table seats in the "Fry Box" for the L.A. match. I guess they missed the memo.
He's got two weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if he plays. $75 seats for the Fry Box are bleacher seats and include a ticket to the first playoff game How do they refund that if we blow our lead? Or do they just make it good for a game next year?
la fans are already expecting beckham to be back for the NY game let alone the fire game..... he'll probably see the field but for how long?? and would they risk him with armas marking up on him?? i like armas, but when he fouls, he lets his man know hes there...
This is probably where they are getting their expectations from: Lalas: Becks to return for Galaxy next week http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=469695&cc=5901
Lalas loves to play the media. This is another one of his games. Let the media think that Beckham might play and you maintain interest. Without Beckham, no one gives a toss about L.A.
I agree. LA is always a good draw, and at this time of the season, this game would be a sellout even if the posterboy was Thorington.
Correct. And it is still at the higher seed's home, right? In other words, even if seed #4 knocks off seed #1, they still travel to play the single-elimination Semifinal match against either seeds#2 or 3? The reason I ask is it looks like unless we become the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference, defeat #2, and #4 defeats #1, we will have to play 3 straight road matches in 3 straight weeks including the MLS Cup Championship in DC. If we become #4 in the West, it will automatically be that way. For road warriors, it will be a real workout. Should start saving up now.
Higher seeds are home. Interestingly, the weird format this year allows for a team with better record to be a lower seed due to the quasi-conferences. A team with a worse record could potential host a team with a better one.
