Which boot do you think has been ruined by boot companies?

I just try and buy older boots, hence my growing set of Vapor 1 and 2's.

I think Adidas screwed up when they changed f50 to f50+ and so on.
The original f50 is the greatest boot ever.
F50+ was a good boot, but nothin' compared to the original version.
The first Tunits are total bullshit. One of the worst shoes I've ever wore.
F50.7 has progressed a bit from the f50.6, but it's still missing the feeling from the original f50. :(

But skizz, old boots are hard to come by specially if you have a size that is very popular. Although I do agree with you, buying older boots does sound like a good idea.

i just love so many of those vapor 1 and 2's.

I have the photo blues vapor 2's at the moment
Had the orange tan vapor 2's but took them back.

Yeah, but they are missing a stud - I have metal ones not the plastic ones those have so I can't be arsed. Shame, they're only a 10er at the moment with 30 mins left.

i purchased a pair of Vapor photo blue 2's and they had worn down studs, so i thought this will be easy- just buy new studs and put them in........
how wrong was i, it has been almost impossible to remove the studs-i have completed i boot which took hours, blood and blisters, but damaged the areas on the soles.
The second boot i have removed 3, and finding it very hard to remove the remaining studs, and have unfortunatly brokien one of the areas where the key fits on one(almost flew into my eye!)

Anyone have any help on how to remove the studs-

Get it out as much as you can with the key, then use pliers.

Skizz where do you think the best place to buy old boots on the web? Probably would help if I lived in Europe. :(

Depends what you want really, anything in mind? eBay is best but obvs if they don't ship abroad it can be a problem. A fair few older boots pop up on eBay UK.

    ebay,

Its simple to set up, you can set up by paying by either cheque or if you have a credit card, you can use paypal, which everyone used.
It doesnt matter whether you live in Euprope or not, there are various ebay sites and members away from Europe.

Also you could use swapshop on Bigsoccer here.Just type swapshop into the search on this website top right.

The only problem with eBay is there is a certain unwillingness to send abroad - I know when I sell things its not an option I tick automatically.

What we can do is stop being so influenced by ads and the things the boot makers tell us about how this shoe makes you shoot harder and this one makes you faster because its lighter and just buy the few quality boots that are out there.

Stay away from most of the ones made in Asia with the exception of Japan (and the Mizuno and Asics made in China are ok because they have higher QC standards) and the Legend. Buy boots made in Europe and ones that are not junked up with half an outsole or plastic that you only want because Messi wears something that looks like it.

Now I know I am not going to change the world but if I can get through to a few people than I made some impact. This is the same thing in the surfing commmunity and all the stress over using Epoxy (less responsive yet hardeer to ding and dent) or PU pop out boards mass produced in China that are just cut off of master shapes of famous board shapers as oppose to buying the more responsive yet less durable USA made hand crafted or computer cut boards.

My question is Asia can produce cars that last forever and out perform USA and European models, the best and most advanced electronic devices on earth years before they reach the western world yet they can fashion more boots that don't flat suck? Even if its an American or European company using the factory they should take the same pride in the boots they take in everything else.

I agree about the Diadora Brasil. Used to be a quality boot but now the revised ones you see on Eurosport are crap.

The puma king original's looked like a boot with real quality and top ;eather, but the later versions look cheap, nasty and common.

The King Exec is as good if not better than the King. I went from wearing the Kings directly to the King Exec and I found it to be at least as good. Neither boot lasted particularly long but they're both still top quality boots, especially for the price, and the Exec is lighter and felt like it fit my foot better. To each his own I guess. I will admit that I'm surprised they stopped marketing the King in itself as I figured it was on a Copa level of being around forever, although it does seem like they're still making the King Classics(the "blackout" Kings)

Two different boots, the top one is still made. The King Exec did not replace the King Top di. Also the new King XL (meaning 40th anniversary) will replace the King Exec in Fall 08.

Unfortunately most of the changes to the v1.08 were to address the issues Puma was having with the v1.06. As we have read on here, no one sized the v1.06 correctly and that caused problems. The focus of the boot (light weight) was still the goal from Puma, the material that now covers the upper is to protect the Con Tech material. They moved the carbon fiber plate to the footbed, as the boot was being over flexed and the carbon fiber outsole in the v1.06 would crease if over flexed.

I will like to hear how you like the new v1.08's when you get the chance to give them a test run. I think once you have it in your hands you will grow to love the new 08's. Have you ever thought to contact Puma UK to be one of their wear testers???

Interesting. Yea cause i havent seen the king being sold lately. So i assumed they killed it off for the boot atop. But if what you say is true, than cool! The 40th ann. King should be awsome!

Edit: Dude do you work for PUMA or something? LOL

No offence taken - I wouldn't want to wear your stupid Vapours :p

Seriously though, I really don't get why a boot company doesn't make a wide version of a boot as standard. Or change the way the sizing works - like using half sizes as slightly wider models than 'whole' sizes. So the boot gets wider for a half size but not longer. If companies did it for their popular models it would open up their potential customer base. For example I know there are only a certain number of boot models that fit me properly so I just don't even think about certain other ones.

Yeah, they're still for sale on most of the online shops and they have them in the JJB near me (as well as the Execs). I almost picked up the mixed sole ones.

I agree that the new boots have too much plastic and its making them cheaper quality. I have a couple pairs of boots now but i also always keep my Copas in my bag b/c they're the "old reliable."
