I'd have her on my team. She was f***ed by the coach, and she said so. Her replacement absolutely sucked, and she said she could do better. She had every reason to be pissed off, and there was nothing to gain by being a good little soldier. Good for her. The rest of the USWNT can pound sand.
She had every reason to be pissed off but there were other ways to handle the situation. She isn't the only person to be benched and she wont be the last. I admire her fight but during the tournament shut up and handle your business behind close doors. She didn't have to blast Scurry either. Scurry didn't ask to be but in that position and there was no guarantee Hope would save any of those shots. How conveniently everyone forgets the Hope Solo from the first match. That Brazil team was on another level and with our style of play and our defense Brazil was running away with that match no matter what. Brianna Scurry didn't lose that match. You don't build the team around her but you keep her around because she is talented. And US Soccer needs charismatic stars. But Hope the teammate fails in my book.
Did not take much for her teammates to chuck her under the bus. There is/was probably a lot of inside stuff going on that people do not know about.
Brianna Scurry might not have lost the match but the decision to start a COLD goalkeeper did effect the team's confidence in her and the coach. Starting Scurry was a dumb decision no matter which way you try to spin it and Solo spoke her mind. What's wrong with that? There are a lot of opinions about Ryan's decision and Solo's is the most relevant of them all.
This issue affects the men's team as well. USSF accepts gross incompetence in it's coaches. Not only did Greg Ryan screw up the goalie decision by playing someone 3 months out of form, he also made many other nonsense decision's in his substitutions. For instance in a knock out game down several goals, he pulled a midfielder for a Defender instead of an attacking player. USSF is afraid to rock the boat in any way and will defend it's coaches no matter what and this is not right. We want guys like Arena and Hackworth and Rongen upgraded b/c they aren't getting the absolute maximum out of our men, right? Well if the women's coach can manage to drag our team down to their absolute worst and not get fired, we have very little hope on the men's side.
please this is how USSF works. Greg knows he can pull it off because this is how USSF works. The rest of the players know it too, so they toed the line
Bruce Arena had to make a public apology to MLS a few years back. Ryan has nowhere near the influence that Arena had. They are not invulnerable. And why would Kristine Lilly toe the line if she disagreed with the decision? What does she have to lose? There are some wierd reports coming out about how they are treating Solo as well. USA Wo-Men.
MLS is different. don't dis MLS even if you are bruce. Kristine is one of the old guard that agreed with the decsion. of course the punishment stuff is coming out, putting everyone on notice for the future. USSF is worse than the mafia

Solo, (despite Ryan's undeniable slap down reference about "deep talent..goal keeping...) is the best keeper, with good experience. If Gulati is not a total ass, she'll be a fixture on the squad. As far as her not being a good teammate, BS! She worked her but off to become the top keeper in the pool. Lily and Wambach hung her out before, during and after the Ryan stupidity. It may not be common knowledge but Mia Hamm regularly called out her teammates (I've witnessed it) yet remains a darling and rightfully so. Despite the kneejerk and denial of context reactions to Solo's interview answer, she did not call out Scurry. Her rant was aimed at the bonehead coach. If she remains blackballed by Gulati, and Scurry's buddies (Lily, Wambach and Foudy...), you'll know what a mess the USWNT will remain.
