How about OBAMA\CLARK......I'd vote for that duo....Ruiz is a fake....hmmm I wonder how he got his nickname "el pescadito"? Because he flops. He's a hack and should be hacked at. I bet Rico is eating fish right now....

Ruiz should be thanking Rico for kicking him in the arm. A kick like that to Carlos' fully-exposed ribs would surely have broken them. And as someone who has had broken ribs, I can tell you it hurts a helluva lot worse and far longer than a bruise on the triceps.

I love Rico and I forgive him this transgression -- Ruiz instigated it with a full-on violent cheap-shot assault. But I don't want a Pres without emotional control. Lets remember -- Rico hurt himself and hurt the team. No vote for Rico for Pres. from me. He's in the penalty box.

I can't condone such an action either, but as a longtime defender who hated dealing with diving pansies, I know I did.

    Re: Rico For President

I can't respond specifically to this last weekend but I fully agree. They sit in their ivory towers and cast judgment like a pontiff often distorting the real truth because their goal isn't to describe what happened, but to get people to believe what they believe...what they want to believe.

As you say, we are no angels but we aren't devils either and frankly, I would have it no other way. Dallas can't beat us on the field, they can't beat us in the stands, but they can create a fictitious world where they are morally superior and then try and lord that over us like a pious, missionary preaching to the heathens that we are. Really, it's incredibly sad and pathetic that they need that but something inside of them does.

Oh and not to derail the thread too much, Rico knows better. He took the bait much like ERob did last year on the 2nd trip to Dallas. Eddie paid the consequences and now Rico will as well. Frankly, it was a selfish act. Ruiz pushes buttons, looking to get a rise out of you, especially when he has nothing to lose and he had absolutely nothing to lose at that point in the game. He let his feelings for Ruiz get in the way of the task at hand and now both he and his teammates will pay the price...

...but I still laughed my ass off when he hauled off and kick the shit out of the diving prick.

Ruiz may not be my favorite player but what clark did may be the dirtiest play in 11 years of mls. I had always admired his hard work and ball winning in the center of the pitch but i hope he gets a long long long vacation. I think they gave the brazilian guy who took out Kerlon (the seal dribbler) a 120 day suspension

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/soccer/09/19/bc.soc.sealdribble.ap/index.html

this seems a lot worse to me but im not even sure what to compare it to in MLS terms. What is the longest MLS Suspension so far, anyone know? and who kicks someone when they are laying down seriously

i hope to never see this hack in the red white and blue again

    Re: Rico For President

Someone who has been purposely kneed in the back. It was a bad play and he'll be suspended for multiple games, possibly all the way up to MLS Cup if the Dynamo make it that far. Like I said, Ruiz pushed his buttons and took him down on the corner. He'd been doing it all game and Clark overreacted. He deserves a 4-6 game suspension and any other talk is just silly.

So one poor judgment erases the many years you have admired his hard work and ball winning in the center of the pitch. Overreact much?

Oh and to put your mind at ease, he will be in the red, white, and blue again. I guarantee it.

    Re: Rico For President

Dude, your just not being objective or rational here.

Rico was the victim of a violent and dangerous foul from Ruiz. He then lost emotional control and acted stupidly to retaliate. But it was retaliation. That does mitigate the situation. It does deserve discipline but you are way over the top and wrong in your assessment.

    Re: Rico For President

Clark will certainly get a long suspension. As others have pointed out, based on previous MLS suspensions, it'll likely be 4-6 games, and probably on the higher end. And I agree that there will, and ought to be, some consideration given to mitigation - but I still think it'll end up around 6 games.

And there's no doubt that Clark will be back for the US. I've expected that he would be one of our starting defensive mids in 2010 and I doubt that Bradley will dump him because he lost his head in this game.

    Interesting stuff...

It looked like Ruiz kneed or punched Clark in the back, kidney area, and then fell on him when he missed the header.

Mind you, Ruiz had been tossing elbows all game long, smacking Robinson in the cheek, earning him a yellow card earlier, which will suspend him for 1 game.

The straight red card will suspend him for another. That's 2 games total.

    Re: Rico For President

If you were to follow the entire game you would've seen La Pescadita fouling Clark all game long. Rico brushed him off most of the game, and was just three minutes away from ending his Fish ordeal. but on the last free kick taken by FU FC, La Pescadita takes a kick at Rico's ankles and causes Rico to take a fall. when Rico is on the ground, La Pescadita follows through with his foul and lands on top of Rico elbow first. Rico went Postal on his azz.

Now, to be honest, Rico lost his head and will hurt the team by earning the 6 game suspension for the violent act. and you don't want to see any player hurt because of a kick to his body like that. But I will submit to you that Rico is one of the most cool, calm and collect of players I've seen. I believe that's the reason the Dom had him marking La Pescadita on set pieces on Sunday.

It is my belief that La Pescadita does not care if he hurts a player when he throws an elbow to the face or makes a player injure himself when La Pescadita pushes off as a player is going up for a ball. Rico must have felt that he could have gotten injured because of La Pescadita's reckless play, and since he just came off an injury not too long ago, he felt La Pescadita could've hurt his career.

    p.s.

And since La Pescadita likes to run his mouth, if he told Clark something like: "I'm going to screw you up on the first chance I get" or something like that. Rico must of thought he better gut himself a fillet of Red Snapper Head right there and then.

I am dissappointed that we have USMNT player that makes Rafa Marquez and Oswaldo Sanchez look like class acts.

    Re: Rico For President

While I can't really say your wrong, I still wouldn't put what Rico did on the same level as Oswaldo Sanchez. Ruiz like Sanchez, is on the same level, because they both start sh*t and have no respect for the game. Rico has never started anything and doesn't play dirty, like the two formentioned players. Rico FINISHED something someone else started, thats it.

Get the pickle outta your ass.

It was Carlos Ruiz and he had a Dallas jersey on. No fine can cover the joy in seeing Ruiz get punted like that.
