Why does Pizza Hut Park, which is supposed to be a "Soccer Specific Stadium", have american football lines on the field? Isn't one of the many reasons to building "SSS", is to play & watch the beautiful game in a true soccer atmosphere without american football markings?

They share their stadium with a high school football team. But I see the same thing you do, and it's not stand-out lines like when you see Kansas City, NYRB, or New England sometimes. They look like at least there was an attempt to not have the lines make the field look more like a gridiron than a pitch, so it's no big deal.

When you see a distinct gridiron on the field, THAT'S when the field is a problem. FC Dallas's field doesn't look like that.

    It's not that bad.

It can be a lot worse, you could be playing with bright white football lines with a big NFL logo in the center circle.

As I recall, didn't Man U occasionally have rugby lines on their pitch last season? As long as soccer is the top dog at PHP, it shouldn't be a big deal.

yeah, the football lines aren't that bad at PHP, as opposed to Giants Stadium. BUT, it still pissed me off to see them, and i'm not even an FC Dallas fan. Its a SOCCER stadium!

ps. i strongly dislike american football

Can't be as bad as Dolphins fans having to see a swath of sand on DOLPHIN STADIUM for a few weeks every year.

Soccer Specific Stadium does not mean Soccer Exclusive Stadium.

Did you see the game at New York, you couldn't even see the yellow line on the field. I hope it wasn't as bad on the field as it was on TV, it looked like they didn't even put down the lines.

The Giants Stadium yellow lines are a lot clearer in person.

Thank God they're kicking the Marlins out. I'm sure both Marlins fans will miss the place though.

Nope. They just get to use the place rent-free on Thursday and Friday nights for high school varsity football.

They're not kicking out the Marlins. In fact, the Dolphins would love to have the Marlins for as long as possible. And IMO, if MLB doesn't contract, that's what's gonna happen. Marlins are never going to get their own stadium in south Florida, and no other city in America seems interested in building one for them either.

I see faint football lines in Columbus stadium as well. As long as they don't stand out like it does in Gillette and NY where they don't even try to cover it. A lot of soccer highlights are kinda ruined because of the football lines. Can't wait to see RSL's stadium as well as Redbull's stadium open. That's less and less football lines in MLS.

YES, you guys are correct, the football lines on the pitch at PHP and crew stadium aren't that bad. Giants stadium is much, much, much worse. but think about this....
do the dallas cowboys allow high school football teams to play at their stadium? do the dallas cowboys allow high school soccer teams to play at their stadium? I highly doubt it.
If anything, why not have high school soccer teams play at PHP, and high school football teams play at the cowboys stadium? doesn't this make the most sense?

If we want MLS to be taken seriously in the US and around the world, and I know all of us on here do, then we gotta fight for no american football lines on the soccer pitch at least at SSS stadiums. As a Red Bulls fan, it really bums me out seeing the nfl lines on the field for our games. But seeing as the NJSEA gives a rats ass about the red bulls, i've had get over it. I hope that at Red Bull Park we never have to deal with this problem ever again.

One last point i want to raise....
i've noticed from watching on tv, stadiums that are home to both a baseball team and a football team, the grounds crew will remove the lines from which ever sport and gets the field properly marked for the sport that is about to be played. example, if a baseball game is being played, the football lines are removed, and vice-versa. Why can't the grounds crew at gillette, and rice-eccles do the same? Like i said above at giants stadium, they don't give two s@*ts about soccer, so i'm assuming thats the reason why they don't remove the lines there. but do they also not care about soccer at the other stadiums as well?

i hope that all made sense. please no negative or smart ass comments about my ranting/venting. thanks.

    Yes.
    They have in the past.
Because the Frisco school district paid $15 million toward PHP's construction and 0 towards the construction of Texas Stadium (or the new place in Arlington). And there's the small matter that Irving is pretty far away from Frisco and Arlington is even farther.
