I'm gonna watch it....from the earlier comments it looks like captain Lilly and Wambach are siding with Ryan!!

I'm going on a limb and will predict a 2-1 US win!! But I'm hoping that Norway wins so coach Dufus can get fired and maybe Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm or Julie Foudy would be the next coach!!

This is so true. Too bad Ryan's character is such that he'd rather sink the team than admit to making an error.

I think US should take this game seriously. Still it is the only country which has won a medal at all WC's . Tomorrow they should fight for bronz.

Only for those who are interested in Ranking lists:
US will lose his 1# place only to the winner of WC, but a second lost to Norway will put them probably at place 4#

I think US may lose this one. Scurry's best time is behind her, I doubt she'll make a miraculous recovery. I think the team's morale must be pretty low.

I really hope Ryan gets sacked, he was a complete failure during this WC.

I'm going to watch, too. I haven't missed a minute of any of the games of the WWC. And Lilly is with Ryan because she's in the team because of Ryan. A better coach would have looked beyond her reputation and performance in meaningless friendlies.

For the frist time in my life, and hopefully the last one: GO NORWAY!!!

US Women # 1...................That was just a FIFA joke..............

Ryan said he made the decision to drop Solo after meeting with team leaders

I thought we got rid of Communism.

It is probably the first time ever that I write a Pro-US comment. However to be fair, I think their #1 ranking before WC was well-deserved. I got upset when last June they put Germans in 2# place, however after WC 2003 they won all major tournaments, expect Algarve Cup 2005 (where they lost again to Germans).

I like women football for one main reason: There is a different topological distribution of powers. It is not like men's football just EU + Brazil +Argentina. Look at history of men's WC: Since 1950, except 1978 and 2006, always either Germany or Brazil has been in final and in 2006 and 1978 they got the third place respectively.

Of course as a German I am happy with this; however it will be dead boring if in future Germany and Brazil dominate the women's football too. I love women football because we have major powers from every continent:

    North America: USA and Canada
    Asian: China and North Korea
    Europe: Germany, Norway, Sweden
    South America: Brazil

Even Australia is a power for itself, or in Europe it is not about Germany, England and Latin countries, but it is about Germany and Scandinavians.

So I wish that this power distribution stays as it is. This 4-0 lost can make a huge negative effect on future generations of US women football. May be a win against Norway will help them to recover a little (although in normal way I prefer Norway to US)

I may be angry with Solo and Ryan, but I hope the USA wins. The USWNT has done more for the advancement of women's football than any other team in the world. They don't deserve to end like that, losing two in a row.

And this coming from someone who is not from the USA.

May be you are right, may be not. I didn't like either this scandal against the poor Hope Solo or those arrogant comments from Abby Wambach (We ar still better than Brazil!)

    Norway is a cute team.

Yes, this is exactly what I wanted to say. Before the game with Brazil, at each game I wished a lost for US. But after that 4-0 I feel bad for them:(.

USWNT in womens Football has been like a male lion in Carnivore world. Of course you enjoy once you see a leopard kicks some arrogant lions ass, but it becomes disgusting if he puts his hands on lion's back and sodomize him.

I still say that 4-0 was the unluckiest result that US could get. I hope Norway doesn't underestimate them tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo's time in the WWC competition is over.

Solo will not suit up with the U.S. women's national team for its third-place match against Norway, Greg Ryan announced during a press conference Saturday afternoon.

Solo, who did not attend practice Saturday, won't be at the stadium for the game, U.S. Soccer officials said. Scurry will start in goal in the US for the 3rd place game. For the info: http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_2621443.html . The Game Vs Norway happens live on ESPN2 at 4:55 a.m. ET TODAY. Please post detailed play by play and discussion on this game here in this thread.

Solo shouldn't have said what she said.

But Ryan shouldn't turn over the control over his team to players.

    That's just pathetic.

He has basically abdicated his job. He refused to take the responsibility for benching Solo and instead has a few veteran players supposedly make the decision for him.

If I were in charge iof hiring a new coach, not only would I dismiss Ryan, I'd also dismiss the players involved for overstepping their roles.

Solo's transgression, although severe, pales in comparison with this pseudo-mutiny. No self-respecting coach would surrender his power in such a way.

And if Gulati doesn't comprehend the disaster that this has turned into, he is completely void of any managerial ability. The USSF needs to turn a new leaf here ... and here ... and here.

I don't think that those players whose council he sought he feel much heat. They were just doing what their boss/coach asked of them. However, I do feel that there will be pressure on some of the centenarians to leave for good to not ******** us up in the future. I mean, I hope Scurry and Lilly aren't planning to be here in 2011.

    Fearless Prediction:

Ugh. Norway wins, 4-0. I have lost all respect for Greg Ryan, and I know he will pay the price. And Hope Solo will be vindicated.

Greg Ryan being sacked after this ordeal is over will be the biggest victory for the WNT. I kid you not.

This from someone who supports the WNT and the MNT, but shuns coaches who specialize in hamfisted decision-making.

I think what Hope said was quite justified but she should have used a bit more tact. Eveyone KNOWS youd have done the same thing in her place. The only reason I can see for dismissing her would be to save face. Of course Id be hiding my face rather than saving it for being a complete pecker box of a coach if I were him.

As for who takes bronze? hmm Ive thought about this since Brazil and I honestly cant say. It will depend on what team shows up... will it be a refocused team after a wake up call looking to prove they were ranked #1 for a reason? ...or a team in further disarray from the loss and drama amongst the team? I cant say who will win but I predict an ass kicking one way or the other. Im rooting for the US but I honestly cant decide what would be best for the womens program. I think a loss will definitely spark a serious look into whats wrong which to me is better than winning 3rd place.

Wagner and Dalmy get the start. And there is some possession. Now Norway with the throw deep. Scurry collects the ball in the box.
